Cig Lighter to turn off with key switch

have a 2009 Xtera SE and am using Radar Detector from front cigarette lighter, want to have it turn off with the ignition switch. anybody do this?

I have an 04 but might be the same. I have 3 outlets up front, some of them turn off with the ignition some don't. See if yours is the same. I just wired in a new plug behind the dash to one of the outlets that turn off. Now it is hidden and shuts off. I also wired a switch into one of them so I could flip a switch rather than hold the button on my drive&play down to shut off.

Not sure why this thread is in the "Owners Manual" room, seems it should be in "Electrical", but whatever.

I don't have an answer that will help you directly with your '09, but I had a similar problem with my '03. THIS THREAD may help you though.
