Interior light control

Hey guys just had a question about controlling the interior lights. In any other car, you can control the interior light via the dash dimmer. The wheel eventually gets to a point where it "clicks" in to position when the wheel is all the way up. Why does this not turn on the overhead light in the car? Is it only my rig that does that or is that just how it is? Thanks guys

Yes I know that. Since it is more convenient to reach forward to the dash, I just wanted to ask if it was my truck only, or if it was all of the X's. I think that it is easier to reach to the dash and more convenient while driving instead of reaching somewhat backward and taking your eyes off the road. Thanks
