3M tape for faring

I did a search but can not find the specifics so please bare with me. I have a 2000 XE. The faring has the 3m tape on the roof but!!! The tape does not even sit under the faring. Some idiot either just stuck it on there or I am missing something. Can the tape be removed? Should I just see if the dealer will give me more and place it correctly myself? They could not have removed the faring to put it on. I can't adjust the faring to utilize the existing tape. Please help!

IMHO I would take it back to the dealer and show them the mistake. They should fix at no charge to you.
