The AC lift has been a problem for some guys I know...and they are regretting getting it now...mostly geting the wrong shocks, and then not being able to exchange them for the correct one's, squeeks, etc.

I haven't heard that. I have the AC coil lift with shackles and the 9000 shocks. No issues after 7K.

I have heard people having issues with the spacer lift and UCA hitting the coil bucket.

Re: lift and tire pics needed - 09/10/06 09:18 AM

The AC coils in front have been great.

I have had some problems with the rear how ever.

I first tried the AC AAL's and it cause vibration. AC wouldn't accept that the problem was because of their AAl kit and blamed Nissan.

So I removed the AAL and installed the AC shackles. They caused my leafs to flatten out so bad that they were resting on the overload leaf.

So now I am running a Calmini AAL with the AC shackles.

I also got my Bilstein rear shocks from AC. They came without any metal sleeves and without mention that you need spacers on each side of the shock on the lower mount. After searching, I found the shocks were really for a Pathfinder. I just wish they would have told me I needed to make a run to the hardware store for some washers before I got the thing in the air and the shocks off. They also sent me two metal sleeves after I asked them about it. I think they now come with the sleeves.

My rear squeeks like crazy, but I think it's the Calmini AAL as I never had any squeeking until I put them on.

I also have the AC extended brake lines. I had no problems with these at all and they look well made. I do wonder who actuall makes them, as I doubt it's AC.

I'm not going to be TOO much offroading, just want to put 285's on with some lift. Would the best thing to do be just the Daystar lift???

I plan on doing a spacer lift eventually mostly because I still owe a lot, have a wife who drives it and am under warranty and it would be the easiest to remove if there is an issue before going to the Dealer for repairs. laugh

Re: lift and tire pics needed - 09/10/06 05:06 PM

Basically the only problem I have had with the Daystar lift (and some guys don't even have the problem; it appears to be hit or miss) is the coil bucket hitting the UCA when your front wheels drop to hard/fast. This has caused some minor wear on the coil bucket where they contact each other, however, it has not been a problem other than the annoying sound it makes (which actually just makes you slow down going over bumps, rocks, etc. which you should be doing anyway smile

AC lift with rear shackles and Rancho shocks. ProComp Xterrain 33s. I am pleased as can be with the set up. I am however agrivated as hell with the stock Nissan leafsprings. They have even been replaced once for squeaking and the problem has returned. It is quite obnoxious, anyone know how to reduce the noise?

WurlyBurd: Did you paint or add that bottom trim on the side of your car? It just makes the design flow a lot better.

Please let me know if you have the info and better pics.

Thanks!

Not to hijack the thread, but I will. smile

That are some progressive pics from when I Herculined the rockers and lower doors last year. Total work took about 4 hours and it took a solid day to dry.

What it looks like now.

BTW, That is AC front Coils, AC Rear Shackles, Calmini AAL kit, AC extended brake lines, Bilstein rear shocks (long travel / 20% stiffer). The tires are 285/75R16 BFG MT's.

Daystar lift, same size tires you think you want. Predator wheels direct fit no spacers.
Shrocked all the way around and under. MC

fastdrmr,

do you have any pics of your vehicle on level ground? I've just ordered the Calmini 2.5" kit and wanted to see how the Xterra sits with it installed.

Thank you in advance

Re: lift and tire pics needed - 27/05/07 07:13 PM

Sweet trucks guys. I'm going to order the AC coils this week and I have 2 questions. What did you guys use for front shocks with them? Which AAL kit do you think is the best Calmini or the AC ones?

Thanks, Gord
