Cool Air Fix Question

Cool Air Fix Question - 08/03/02 01:54 PM

Does anyone know what is behind the grids in front of the wind shield ? I popped out all the squares to cool down the air coming into the vehicle.

Is there anything sensitive in there that could be damaged ? The reason I ask is that I am having electrical problems, a fuse keeps blowing (cruise/rear defrost/windows), and from time to time my high beams flash on their own - even when the lights are off.

I am concerned that the dealer is going to spot my handywork and inform me that I damaged something - then bill me for the times they have tried to find the problem.

There isn't much. You can easily pop off the black plastic to take a look yourself, just
1. unbolt your wiper arms.
2. pop the hood
3. remove the rubber seal at the back of the engine bay that the hood panel seals against when it is closed.
4. The black plastic trim is held on by snap pins, a couple large ones that you can see from the engine bay and some that you will feel when you start trying to lift up the plastic trim.

Richard Krenn has a photo of the underside of the plastic trim where you can see the pins so you get the idea.

Thanks. Now I have to wonder if adding new tires caused an electrical fault. Actaully the dealer has been quite good so far.
