Yes, Another a/c question - 16/12/07 03:02 PM

My a/c was blowing cold when we went on a long drive ( 4 hrs up and then next day 4 hrs back )Then next morning all it did was blow hot air. Clutch is in engaging , check freon thats ok,all the a/c lights on dash comes on and so it hasn't worked in 2 weeks. Could it be the thermo control amp that I keep reading here. Thanks for any help. I know it's winter but I live in Florida. smile

If everything checks out the thermo control amp could be it. I had the same problems and replaced mine. That was the problem.

thanks for the reply, I was just wondering since most threads that i read said the a/c would work sometimes, but mine just quit one day & hasn't work since. I didn't know if something else would just make it stop working overnight.

Hmm, that's a tough one. I wonder if a dealer might be able to procure one?

Before I look and drive to a dealer, get surrounded by salesmen, convince them I don't need a new nissan, then try to convince the parts guys that I don't need to bring my xterra in to hook up to computer to find out what is wrong, then pay $120.00 for a $30.00 part. I would like to find a place online to buy. I have tried a search and found a link to one but it was for a 2000-2002 xterra , I have a 2003. Every nissan web site that I have been on doesn't list one or when I try a search on their web site for a "Thermal control amplifier" it comes up empty. So thanks for the last reply. You must work at a dealership

Dunno if this is what you need, so you might want to call them.
