How do you wire the various 12V outlets so they are always on (rather than on with the key turned)?

I know I've seen a diagram and description of this somewhere, but I can't find it.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I think I know whats going on now with the fused 12V outlets in the front and back. I put the male spades on the jumper right into the sockets with the fat wires right? According to a wiring diagram, the cigarette lighter in the front seems to somehow be separate from this relay. Will my cigarette lighter still only go on with the ignition switch (acc)?

Look at the following diagram:

Yes, the lighter socket will still be controlled by the ignition switch.

Ken,

Could I somehow disconnect the cigarette lighter's R/B wire and connect it to the positive R/G wires that go the the other two sockets? All three sockets would then go to the same 20A fuse (#42). I don't forsee using anything that draws 20A on this circuit. I just want the sockets on so that I can run my GPS, Visor PDA, etc. without them going onto batteries when I turn off the ignition. These are low wattage devices, so the current draw should be small (I=P/12V).
Does the actual cigarette lighter need up to 15A? I know the resistance is pretty high (obviously). I don't have the lighter anyway, so it's kind of moot.

There's no reason why you can't connect the lighter socket to the power socket circuit. It will reduce your total available accessory power from 420 watts to 240 watts though.
240 watts will still run about 100 PDAs.

The relay is just above the parking break? I looked up in there and there is a *bunch* of wires and relays, etc. Does anyone have a photo of where this relay is (like from the Xterra CD)? I don't want to start yanking the wrong wires out.

In my 2001 (Canadian model XE) both power outlet are not switched, only the lighter outlet is switched.
