Passenger side grab handle

The other X's I have seen have a grab handle on the passenger side A pillar, as well as one above the door. Much to my wife's aggravation, mine only has the A-pillar grab handle, and she wants me to install one above the door for her.

I speculate that mine does not have one due to the fact that I have the rare side airbag option.
Does anyone know if this is the case, and if so, is it possible to intall a handle there w/o interferring with the side airbag?

Right, side curtain airbag = no handlem, and I'm sure there's no way to retro-fit one. Even if there were, the airbag would blast it towards your head when it fired.

Thanks. I was hoping to install something such that the curtain would deploy over the top instead of puhing it out. She will just have to sit in the back seat if she wants an upper grab handle.......
