1LBS of beef for a loonie (canadian$) - 14/07/03 03:41 PM
The beef producers in Canada are dying, the closed borders and Japan refusing to accept imports are both major causes to the disaster in the beef industry. 1 Case of Madcow decease which can NOT be transmitted to humans is costing the industry $11 million a day.
The major Grocery chains in Canada are now supporting the beef industry by selling beef at $1 CANADIAN a pound, imagine buying a full side of beef for as little as $750. happy BBQ season
My father inlaw is a cattle rancher with a current stock of 29.000 heads where half are due to be sold in 6 weeks, which means he is out of business if nothing changes.
How is the whole situation viewed in the US?. are the beef prices higher due to less supply?.
