FYI for the Brushguard lovers - 23/03/03 09:54 PM

Here are the permanent markings my old Nissan brushguard left on my truck. I don't know if it was a chemical used at the dealership that caused it or if it was from the sun melting the rubber lining of the brushguard.

It's from rubbing back and forth.

The brushguard mounts to the frame, the grill is mounted to the body. There is a lot of movement between the two.

Thanks Ian.

I just wanted to post yet another example of what you can look foward to by adding the dreaded brushguard. Unfortunatly, I didn't find any of the xterra clubs until after I bought my X. Buying the brushguard was a bad mistake on my part.

Did the dealer install it? If so, claim incorrect installation and get a new grill under warranty!

Edit: Oh yeah, mine is close too (have the factory one) There is maybe 1/16" clearance and may actually touch sometimes.

It's been off for about 5 months now...I've just been lazy about posting the aftereffects. It was installed by the dealer but it's really not worth working out a replacement for this. My truck is far from perfect by now.

I just wanted to make people aware of what other 'damages' the Nissan brushguard is capable of causing.

At the risk of having to hear the broken record yet again about the perils of brushgaurds.... I think the biggest problem here was an obvious piss-poor installation rather than the brushgaurd itself.

I've got a good half inch of clearance on mine from the dealership...

Of course we still have to deal with the big ass holes they cut in the plastic in order to install it.
