Cool video, but I can't wait until all streaming video formats die.

Even with cable (after AT&T got a hold of it) I can't stream anything bigger than 50K a second sustained. Downloading it to my disk is the only option to view it (it's 18MB).

I think that being a WRC navigator may just be the scariest job in the entire world...

That is a cool vid. Thanks. I agree with Ian. Being the navigator of one of those must be very scary. "Uh Jack, we have a 90 degree turn coming up you want to keep it under 80 for this one this time" eek

Very cool!

Ian, I had no trouble with the vid steaming.
I'm on www.Sympatico.ca DSL.

Ian, are you familiar with the Streambox VCR program? Lets you nab most any stream and save it, even those that are marked no-save. Couple it with the URL Snooper to actually determine the URL of the stream and there's practically nothing you can't grab.

Yes, I'm just pissed that AT&T has fucked up the cable service so much.

My friend just streamed the whole thing with no drops, and he's on DirecPC dual direction satellite.

I got it at 705kb/sec., fully dloaded before it was 1/4 thru - but got apparent 'drops' when in full screen with the mail proggy doing 16-bit stuff in the background. Maybe that was what you experienced? Anyways, I just right-clicked the sucker and dloaded it to disk - wasn't a 'protected' stream. Awesome vid.

BTW, I have Time-Warner cable, and anyone who has AT&T/Mediacom tells me stories that actually make me glad to have T-W (sad, but true...)

Re: if any one like rally cars - 04/01/02 05:07 AM

I stayed up tuesday night to watch 2 hours of the WRC on Speedvision. Insanity. I love how they "miscalculate" and drive off a mountain, only to land on another road and continue. The video of Tommy Mak hitting the curb/stonewall then careening into a granite cliff face was sick. didn't walk away from that one. it's amazing what an econobox can do with a 400hp engine and some killer tires and suspension, huh?

Re: if any one like rally cars - 04/01/02 05:19 AM

I love the WRC however missed the show. Those econo-boxes are anything but being that the cost per car can be very high. A far cry from their made for consumer offerings. How did the Ford boys do?

Re: if any one like rally cars - 04/01/02 08:56 AM

Dude, you missed out big time. They ran the entire season beginning early in the afternoon all the way through to late at night. I caught about 4 hours worth myself. Wish I could have seen all of it frown

Actually Subaru sold the Impreza 22B in Japan for about $50k US, and it's damn close to the real thing.

If you want a far cry, compare NASCAR cars to what the consumer can buy laugh
