Pictures of the MTR (mounted)? - 22/04/01 04:48 PM

I am real close to buying a set of GoodYear MTR, 31/10.5/15 for my 2001 XE. Have read up a lot about them and saw them at the store. Does anyone have a picture of the tires mounted on the X?

Nice! Thanks. Looks like that X had a lift kit put in place and is running the 32" or more. I am thinking of going with the 31" 'cause I don't want rubbing (and don't have a lift kit). Thanks for the info. If anyone has a pic of the 31" with no lift, that would be great.

33s are the biggest you can fit without a huge lift because they simply won't fit into the wheel wells under compression. If you can lift the body high enough that the tires don't enter the wheel wells at full compression, you could just as well run 35s, 38s, etc. (though the drivetrain wouldn't handle it).

Ned has 32-12.50-15 BFG AT/KO's, and under full compression/articulation, he gets rubbing on the rear tires against inner wheel wells. True, he has Revolvers (which give him more articulation, but with about 1-1/2" lift, too). East-coasters have also commented on minor rubbing with the 32's, without the Revolvers.

The biggest problem with 32"+ tires, is it REALLY saps the power, unless you drop to a lower set of R&P's. Ned has had several times where he's had his foot to the floor, and the torque converter just spins -- too much traction coefficient from the tires for the converter to handle without more leverage in the form of axle gearing.

I don't see 32x12.50 listed in the BFG PDF...

Fabien,

Sorry about the size / quality of the pics some were taken with the digital camcorder and the others with an old digital camera. They are however 31-10.5-15 MT/Rs on factory rims.
Sorry if the link doesn't work, haven't tried an inline link before on this board before and not quite sure how to do it.
