This AR black steel wheel has the closest to stock backspacing, 4.75 vs 5.00 stock. Will it work on a stock lift X?

Stock lift X? If your meaning the rear shackle lift with the torsion bar adjustment then I'm sure with only a .25 difference, you'll be fine. I have the same "lift" with the BFG 31x10.5x15 A/t KO's and stock wheels, but I had only little trimming and they work great. Even SOME club memebers with 32" don't rub, so I bet you will be just fine. Many people I have heard/seen has the same setup that your asking about and I haven't heard of them having any problems. laugh

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're comparing apples and oranges. Backspacing is different according to rim width. 4.75 b.s. on a 8" rim does not equal 4.75 on a 7" rim ( there is more than a .25 difference in your case ) I drew this up a while ago, with the numbers I had at the time, but it gives you a visual (copy&paste) http://www.geocities.com/x_canuk/rim.JPG

Damn interesting, xcanuk. Will peruse it at length later. Currently in harness at work. frown
