31X10.5 w/ 3.75 BS - 26/01/04 06:32 AM

I went to the local 4wheelparts store the other day and ordered new rims and tires

http://www.4wheelparts.com/product2.asp?imseqn=1890&occlass=TWD&cat=PAC

Prior to doing so, I pm'd some folks on here and got their advice. Combining XOC knowledge w/ the 4wheelparts guy's knowleged, I went with the 31X10.5 w/ 3.75 BS.

This morning I decide to search for some pics of what I'll be getting and using some different search words, I come up with all these posts saying 3.75 BS is going to stick way out and that 31's are going to rub.

Can anyone make me feel better? Or confirm. Thanks in advance.

You'll want to crank your T-bars pretty high... you'll still experience a little bit of rubbing... I raised my bars a bit and it rubbed all over the place... especially when turning in and out of parking lots... it would even rub my ARB... I've since taken them off until I can raise my T-bars more and get another alignment... here's a pic of how far mine stuck out...
]*edit* I just noticed you're getting the Rockcrawlers... that's what I've got, also... have fun adjusting to the weight of those things... they're heavy as hell... and don't complain about your MPG afterwards... laugh j/k

Well, I called them w/ your advice and they swear that everything will fit and work w/out rubbing. I figure its on them if it doesn't so we'll see what happens. [Uh Oh !]

I really hope that someone else will post and say it worked fine on their truck.

At any rate, that you austinbrtndr for the quick and detailed reply. That pic really helps.

The one detail you forgot to mention is what width you are going with. > 3.75BS sets up the tire differently depending if its a 7" or 8" rim, 8" will stick out further. You cannot use the backspacing number as a comparison with different widths.

I've been running with outlaw II rims since the beginning, 15x7 3.75 BS (-6mm Offset), and now I am also running with BFG AT 31x10.5x15. With the stock tires, I had to trim the mudflap area as well as the front plastic, with the 31's, I had to nibble a bit more and since I had installed AAL's, I had already cranked the T-bars. My tires barely sticks out from the fender, looking straight down, you cannot see the thread of the tire.
FYI, I have a whole set of trim pics on my site for both sets of tires with my rims.

My fault, the rim is 15X8. It looks like a very similar setup to yours Xcanuc. The amount of trimming that you've outlined seens very feasible. Man, what a thorough job of explaining you've done on your site. Greatly appreciated.

So, 15X8 like autinbrtndr.

IMO 3.75BS on 8" rims will have too many issues to make it worth while. Remember my pics are for 7" rims, you would be adding another inch to the outside, and would be trimming even more.
I've seen an X with a similar set up and it just looked like a bad fit overall (even if there were not rub issues)

Ok, then you will have the issues I've described...Here's a front shot to show you what the stance looks like from the front... I think it looks much better than stock...

IMO, that is a touch too much, plus the cops around here would be on my a$$ for it without installing flares etc. Its also one of the reasons I redid my rear mud flaps to cover the excess.
