265/75 R16 RUBBING- HELP!!!

BFG 265/75 R16 AT KO's rubbing on 2004 XE 4x4. Just got my tire and wheel combo from 4wheel parts on American Racing Teflon wheels. How can i correct this problem FAST....Crank t-bars?, adjust steering bumpstops? Help

Where exacltly are you rubbing? Have you narrowed down where it is happening?

You might just need to turn the steering stops due to the offset of the wheel.

Tell him and a friend to slowly isolate the problem rolling and turning the wheels and then go from there.

He needs to be specific as to what's rubbing on what, and under what condiitons.

If he only rubs on turns, it might be as simple as the little strip of plastic the mud flaps are mounted to, and he just needs to cut off a strip of plastic where the tire hits, and be done with it.

If he got rims with too little backspacing (He should have 5.25" of backspacing), and the tire's stick out past the fenders, and it only rubs on bumps/when compressed, he can add bumpstop extensions....if it hits the fenders at rest, a t-bar crank might help, but he'll still eat fenders on bumps.

The turn stop bolts can be let out to reduce the full lock arc the tires swing through, widening his turning ratio, etc.

Etc...

So - what's hitting what, and when?

he's not very mechanically inclined so its a difficult talking through procedure. but ill try. it has to be the wheel offset because its an 04, and tons of other members have 265/75/16's on stock wheels on stock unlifted X's with no rubbing. I researched it thoroughly before advising him on the purchase, and he was sold the wheels so i couldnt help that problem. The tires should fit, its basically a backspacing problem. I said to crank the t-bars a bit and adjust the steering stops, so we'll see.

Talk to DBAX on this board.. he's got those rims. He can probably tell you what you can do, if anything to fix the prob.

you can fix it by just giving me the wheels and tires.

You can fix any rubbing caused by your wheels and tires just get yourself a sawzall and a 4" grinder and SWANKY it. Not to mention remove all the plastic wheel well lining materials will help also
