KYB vs. Bilstein

Has anyone tried the KYB mono max shocks? I have the KYB-AGX shocks on my car and they are great.

How would they compare to the Bilsteins on an X?

I currently have KYBs on the front and Bilsteins on the back. Compared to the stock fronts the KYBs are pretty good so far (but then a banana mounted in there is probably better than stock). So far so good.

The Bilsteins however, are excellent.

Another to look at is Old-man Emu.

I've got some KYB monomax's with only 6xxx miles on them i'm selling.They worked great and are sooo much better than stock. Especially if you have a brush guard or aftermarket bumper. I've recentely installed a 3 inch lift so have no need for the front KYB's. Never got around to getting the rear ones.

You do know you don't have to replace the front shocks when you get the 3" lift, right?

If your new lift came with new shocks, then yeah, a no-brainer - put em on.

I also have the KYB monomax up front; with an ARB & winch it's a tad bouncier than I'd like on freeway; offroad however, they tighten up real nice with hard bounces & I'm very satisfied with them in that respect.
Also, I have the SLR 3" Downtravel Limitation Kit (uh, I mean upper control arms) & the KYBs do NOT appear to limit travel (that is, when I jack up the front of the truck, the UCAs compress the upper bumpstops nicely with no apparent limitation imposed by the shock (though I haven't done this with the shock disconnected)).
Overall, I like the shock; but in my quest for greener grass I'll probably look for another option when it's time to replace them.FWIW.

just go with 20% stiffer bilsteins and you'll never go back. you cant go wrong.
