Front tire offset

Front tire offset - 07/03/01 11:06 PM

I recently put on some BFG All terrains on my Xterra, and I noticed when I was doing a little trimming that my front right tire sits back about an inch from my front left tire. On the left side I didn't have to hardly take anything off at all, and the right side I had to take off quite a bit. Has anybody had any experiences like this, and is this bad? It seems like the tires would wear unevenly? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have you check your measurment for ground clearance on both sides? It could be a matter of just adjusting your torsion bars. A number of people have had their X's sitting uneven and fixed it with a torsion bar adjust.

Sits back an inch ?

Take it to the dealer, there should be no difference.

If you drive straight as you can so as to have both front tires come to rest on a perpendicular line/parking block, etc...

Do they reach it at the same time?

Maybe the body is off, not the wheels?

Just worth checking while you are at it.

Good Luck!
