Front Bilsteins - 26/12/02 03:01 PM

SLR is having a sale, and I need new front shocks.
Which front shock should I get?
I have an ARB with a Milemarker electric winch (80 lbs),
AC skidplate( 40lbs +/-), and a 1.5” t-bar lift Nismo t-bars.

Should I go with the 20% stiffer 5100 series?

Or should I go with Bilstein's altered suspension shocks w/ bumpstops, etc 20% stiffer?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanx.

The altered suspension shock was added to try and reduce the possibility of a broken lower shock eye.
Bilstien verified lengths with me, and their shocks are a bit too long compared to stock, and can get damaged under hard compression.

SLR added a bumpstop to the shock shaft to reduce this problem, but in doing so it reduces upward wheel travel at low speeds since the bumpstop is very dense and can't be compressed fully except with a big hit. You can always remove the bumpstop if you don't like it, which is what I ended up doing.

The 20% stiffer shocks are a nice ride if you have some extra weight up front.
