New AT KO2 tire (Load range question) - 23/06/15 04:12 PM

So its time for new tires again. I was happy with my at KO's (the originals). I had the 265/70/r16 size on my vehicle on the stock rims of my 2003 XE 4wd. I would like to get the same tires but have learned that they no longer make them. However, I can get my hands on them for about $224 per tire from Costco. I also learned that there is a new at KO 2 tire however it is only offered in load range E. It will allow for higher PSI but what else does this mean for me? Will this affect anything other than towable weight? (I don't even have a hitch on my vehicle so this wouldn't be an issue). The at KO 2's from costco are #172 per tire (much cheaper) . Also, if the 265/75/r16s are cheaper than 265/70/r16s should I go ahead and do those? Need advice. Thanks in advance

The sidewalls are heavier so they will be stiffer and if you are in cold weather, tires will take a few miles to "soften up". E range really aren't necessary on an SUV unless you tow or want a heaver sidewall for rocky terrain.

I too am waiting for Costco to get these in. 31x10.5/15
These are C1 load rated.
Costco have the KO's in my size and I was going to get those but the salesman said If I had a roadhazard issue they may not be able to replace them since the KO2's are replacing the KO's so I'll wait.

I had E's on a 3/4ton ford F250 and they were fine for carrying a camper and towing. I wouldn't pay more for something I don't need.
