getting thru the firewall - 09/12/02 10:05 AM

Hey gang..
2 questions:
1 - I am about to set up my fog lights and need to get thru the fire wall for the switch; where is the best place to go thru?? This is my first electrical job on the X, so I have very little clue where to find it, so if you know, please be specific so I dont F*&k it up. ..
2 - I want to use the ignition 'hot' as my input to the switch.. anyone know how I can find the right wire? The diagram that came with the lights says go straight to the battery, but I say ney-ney. I have a relay and not have a chance of draining the battery..

Thanks again and hope to hear from someone soon smile

Best place is the gromet on the passanger side of the engine is a good place to run wire. You will need a metal coat hanger.

It's obvious my reply was not nearly as funny as I thought it was an hour ago.

Of course I have been up for 26 hours, so everything just seems funny [Freak]

As far as I know, that's about the only easily accessible place to run wire to the inside of the truck. As far as using the ignition as your 12v source, just run a wire to/from the fusebox. Use the diagram on the door of the fuse box to find the ignition. It's pretty simple actually.

Mine wasn't so funny either now that I think a little bit deeper about it. Sorry dude, it was kind of cold.
