CD Changer Ideas - 28/02/01 01:27 PM

Hello.

I am looking at different options to put a Changer in my 2000 Xterra SE. I'd like to just add a changer in the back but I'd rather not use that FM Modulator or whatever its called. I don't know much about this stuff but it seems like the factory stereo supports hooking up a changer directly but I can't seem to find any compatible changers.

I'm not looking to spends tons of money but any suggestions anyone has would be great.

Thanks a lot for your help.

The only changer that works is the one the delaer sells. They normally want about $700 (what are they smoking?) for one, but I think the Xterra Store sells them for around $350. That's probably the best you're going to find without using an FM Modulator. try Xterra Store at www.xterrastore.com and search for the CD changer. I'm pretty sure it's still on their site.

I think The stock headunits are made by Clarion Find a Clarion dealer and see if a clarion changer would plug in???

Actually, the head units are made by Panasonic (atleast in the SE's). I was unable to find a Panasonic or Clarion changer that would work when I was looking. In the end, I replaced the whole silly system anyway, so it didn't matter.

My bad. Clarion used to have a contract with Nissan
I was at Circuit city today and saw an adapter that could plug cd changers into stock head units. I think crutchfield has these too
