'03 Aux In Project worklog - 18/08/05 08:32 AM

Hi, I'm just starting a worklog for installing the AUX-IN for '03 Xterras w/o the RF stuff.

I just picked up my 8-pin DIN plug from Fry's. http://shop4.outpost.com/product/2421710?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG $.59
and my 6" mini-to-RCA adapter for $1.49.

I already have toggles mounted on the console.

Will post up pics and progess soon!

Thanks for that link to the DIN8 connector, I exhausted all of the local possibilities in 3 cities around me!

How's the install coming? As soon as I get my connector, I'll be pretty much doing the same thing as you smile

I SUCK at soldering small pins. I tried and finally gave up with it..
I ending up coming up with this solution..
(Still working on splicing and wiring everything)

I picked up a 15' 8 pin CD changer cable off of ebay for $7.99.. Hacked it in half (I can actually make two now), used a multimeter to figure out which pin is which color wire. Wired the audio to a male 1/8" Gold jack. Just so I can plug my XM directly into the 01 Stock XE radio.
I'll see if it actually worked hopefully tomorrow..

DOH!! Should have pulled out my radio before wasting my time on the adapter.. mad
The CD changer plug in the back of my radio is a rectangle 14 pin connector.. Doh!! confused

Anyone have a wiring diagram for soldering points on the pins? 01 Xterra XE, CD and tape deck..

Here's my buttons... mybad on the fuzzy pic

the middle button opens/closes my garage door and the far right button selects the AUX input for the stock radio.

Otherwise, this is the only other part that you can see.
