Pioneer TS-A6960R 3-Way Speaker - 05/08/03 10:06 AM
Does anybody on the forum has experience with Pioneer TS-A6960R 3-Way Speaker 6x9. Will they fit in the rear factory location?
Crutchfield.Com shows it will not fit but when I checked on SoundDomainc.com it tell me its a "GO" meaning the speaker size matches factory speaker opening exactly and is designed to "drop-in."
Any help will be appreciated. TIA... Ray

If one says yes and the other says no -
they probably mean if you want to put it straight in, once you have taken the stock ones out - then it won't.
with a little fudging, no problem. I had to do the same with my Pioneer - it's not the perfect shape - so we cut out the plastic frame bits off the stock and applied it, split down the middle, to make it sit better in the hole -
then the panel should fit, just a little tight - but it's a tight fit so it won't move around, and I didn't need to cut the panel's mesh.

After much research, I decided to go with Polk GXR69 3-way 6x9's in the rear cargo area. Last evening, I installed them without any problem and the speakers fit just fine. I consider them as EZ-fit though the crutchfield said it will not fit. These are availble at crutchfield for $59.99 plus 5.99 shipping.
Now the goal for next week is to purchase / install Pioneer TS-A1767 in the front doors. The thing is crutchfiled is selling them for $120 when some others are selling for only $60. Anyways, I just wanted to provided an update for choice limited rear 6x9's.
