Bad Amp, Wires or What is going on?

Bad Amp, Wires or What is going on? - 24/07/03 09:50 AM

I am returning my 2002 Nissan Xterra SE 4x4 to the dealership for the friggin 3rd time to replace a faulty wire, amplifier or something in my stereo! Regardless it has died for 4th time in past 3 weeks.

The dealership filed a ticket to Tech Services and they instructed the mechanicis to initially replace amplifier, then replace some wires, and then replace even more wires.

Has anyone dealt with this type of problem in their 2002 Xterra? Is there a recall out on this technical problem?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
Jerry

Recall = safety problem

Audio does not qualify unless it causes your X to burst into flame.

It could be so many different things that it is difficult to be helpful here. But were it me, I would look for a speaker that is touching metal somewhere. This problem can occur in the front door speakers, and they can zap the whole system if not secured/shielded.

My friend had a speaker wire work loose and ground to the frame one time. The internal amp in his Clarion had a safety feature that shut it off when it happened. I'm not sure the stocker's in the X have that feature, but it could be a ground none-the-less.
