Ion Crystal H3 bulbs for stock foglamps - 07/03/03 04:39 AM

I was wondering if there is somebody out there that could recommend a replacement ion crystal bulb for the xterra's stock 2002 foglamps and comment on its performance.

At first I was thinking of getting the PIAA Crystal Ion which is a 55w = 85w. But from a good source (KEN)commented that PIAA is usually the cause of most xterra's wiring burn out. Also, Have any of you did any mods to the stock foglamps to accomidate a higher wattage bulbs and from the heat it could generate?

I appreciate any information that you could share.

All I said was that I can find no electrical data for the PIAA bulbs and they seem to cause more than their share of problems. Their claims of "55W = 85W" smell like a perpetual motion machine to me.

I can't vouch for the 55W=85W but I have been running the PIAA Ion Crystal H3 in my Frontier (plastic foglights) for over a year and had zero problems with melting, etc. I think the 55W bulbs for the most part are pretty safe, it is when you get an 85W or higher in such a confined enclosure that you will have issues.

I bought mine at www.nopionline.com. I think they were $23 a piece. I have seen them also at shops locally, so maybe you can pay a few more $$ but still save over shipping costs.
