amp question - 08/10/01 08:45 AM

Once again, I need help...you guys ave been great though. I have a 2 channel amp...if I take the speaker outs and splice them together, does that combine the power from the two channels? I'd like to power one sub with this amp, not sure if it will work. help!!?? Obviously I don't have much experience in this area...any help would be appreciated...thanks

I would hold off on splicing any speakers together until you can give us some more info. Some amps are able to handle a lower OHM rating(which is what happens when you start adding resistance), and some amps are not able to. Also some amps are able to run a stereo/mono mix which would allow you to run 2 speakers and a sub from one amp.
What kind of amp do you have?
Are you using the amp for the front door and tweeter speakers or the rear 6x9's?
Are you using the stock speakers? If not what are you using?

These questions will help paint a clear picture and give you the correct advice rather then a general one.

Just the way you said that scares me. If an amp is made to be used in mono mode most of the time it is a + from one channel and the - from the other channel that makes the mono connection. read your owners manual then come back with the info XXXTERRA talked about.
