I noticed that. confused
Any particular reason you wouldn't just put it in the parts and accessories forum and let it sit there a while until people responded?

Craig, I forgot to thank you for the reply about the Surco rack! Craisy Daisy has a Surco rack and adapted a shovel/ax holder to his Hi-lift so I am probably going to go that way!

The cheapest place I found was Pep Boys. $162.95.

Try going to the optima website and doing a search under the stores closest to you. That is what I did.

Are you sure they're not quoting prices for the red-top? They tend to run $110-150, where the yellow-top runs over $150.

Do they ship? That is a better price than I can buy if for including S&H and return battery charge of $7.

I called back and stress I was talking about the yellow top and found that OffroadX is correct and I was miss quoted. Rocky at pepboys just learned the diference with the red and yellow (they don't even carry the yellow).

Sorry for posting the wrong information. I will delete my other posts so people don't get confused.

The Exide Orbital gel cell is supposed to be similar to the Optima yellow top, but costs less money. It also is available at Pep Boys.

Guys! we don't have PepBoys in Seattle area!

We did, but it lasted about two months! Shucks had a gel "looking" battery made by Exide? Red and black ones.

but we have GI JOES. That's where I got my yellow top. I think it was ~$150-$160. Faily knowledgeable staff and decent prices.

There is one up on South Hill (Puyallup) about 122nd and Meridian and also I think their is one in Federal Way on Pac Hiway across from Sea-Tac Mall.

I was just reading Consumer Reports. It didn't have the Optima battery rated very high. I thought that was weird. Duralast and Interstate came in front of it. Optima was also the most expensive out of all the batteries tested.

Maybe that's why CR didn't rate it that highly- it's a specialized battery and for most passenger cars, it's probably overkill.

Yeah thats what I would think, but they had all the batteries seperated into classes. But they tested a red top 34/78-11050. It didn't do great in cold cranking amps and reserve-capacity tests.
