Inflatable beds

Inflatable beds - 24/02/01 03:55 PM

Call me soft but.....I'd like one of those inflatable beds rather than to sleep in a sleeping bag on the backs of the folded down rear seats. One that fits the X nicely. Anyone have one of these?

I agree, I would like to know. We might need to post this in the camping section, instead though.

i bought a coleman quickbed with pump in a double size. its 54" wide which is the widest you could probably fit back there. i have yet to use it but it does fit nicely. it takes about 5 minutes to fully pump up with the quickpump and i got it for about $40. not too bad.

Soft?... Hell that's plenty rough for me. I've got one (I used it while re-modeling my condo) and it wasn't bad to sleep on for short durations - does fold up small and air up fast. But as for me - show me a La Quinta anyday. And crank the A/C as high as it'll go!

Cool. I'll check into it. Here in NY, if ya wanna play golf at Bethpage.....or anywhere else for that matter, ya have to sleep in the parking lot the night before. Unfortunately I'm an addict and plan on doing this often during the summer. (my first with the X)Used to do it with my Z3 but couldn't sleep sitting up. I love havin' a truck!!!

Les and I have a queen size Coleman mattress which is very comfortable, especially with 0 degree flannel SlumberJack bags.

No need to rough it unless you're backpacking it.

I noticed in a similar thread previously that someone had made a magnetic screen to go over the windows, so you could leave them down and get air w/out bugs. Anyone done that? I plan on experimenting with that and seeing what I can come up with.

Nope, it fits in our huge tent.

i dont think anything larger than a double will fit. nothing over 54" wide, even though it will go over the wheel wells in the cargo area.

Yah, Dave (livelife123) and I both had these at CalX last October. They worked fine. I went to the local hardware store and bought what was basically a replacement roll of screen meant for a screen door (I think it was 48"x80") and about 6' of 1/2"-wide magnetic tape. Just remember to cut the screen patches large enough so that there's excess around the windows for the magnets to hold onto - I almost neglected to do that. Heh. I actually had enough screen leftover to cover the rear hatch area if I had wanted to leave that open. Given more time, I think I'd like to integrate the magnets fully into the screens so that they're one-piece units.
