Extra install hands?? - 27/10/03 03:25 PM

Anyone want to come over tomorrow night and help put on the new muffler and intake system?

Shouldn't take too long, but I have extra beers, so we might need to stretch it out!

I don't know about Broken Arrow, but we could take on the "White wall" of Table Mesa.

How's 5:30 sound?

I'll be in the garage working on some oil leaks on the rail and then getting it ready to go to work with me tomorrow to see if I can get some more brake pedal out of it.

Bring it over if you get stuck on something, I've probably got a tool or two that might help wink

Hopefully you've been soaking any bolts you'll be removing in WD40 for the last day or so. Exhaust bolts are the worst "rust'rs" on the entire vehicle, plan on struggling and possibly breaking one or more. Are you replacing the pipe from the manifolds back or less than that?

Re: Extra install hands?? - 28/10/03 08:23 AM

Mike- it's slr's Gibson catback, so it replaces everything from the manifold back.
Why would my truck have rust on it??? laugh
Yea- I started wd40'ing it on Sunday.

To get to my house:
Take I-17 north to the Anthem exit. Go right (East) on Anthem way. You'll go through 2 stops. The second one has lights. Continue through and pass Anthem Park on your right.
Turn right on Independence (which is the second right after the stop light)
Follow Independence to Territory Trail (3rd right) Turn right onto Territory.

Mine is the 5th house on the left. Look for the Big Black Xterra~

I'll stop by.

As long as we don't have to meet at Chili's I should be OK. [Smoking]

Hmm, that's what I ran. Mine actually went from the Y-pipe back, not from the manifolds. confused

If it's what I had, you will need to remove 2 exhaust bolts, 2 bolt on hangars and 1 rubber mounted hangar and the whole thing can slide out over the axle if you jack the truck up from the rear and take out the spare.

Took me about 10 minutes to get mine off and another 10 minutes to install it on Marcus' truck.

(and yes, soaking those 2 bolts on the exhaust flange as well as the hangars will help out a lot.) [Wave] [Geek]

Mike- there's no Chili's in Anthem. Did you get lost at the TGIF? (just kidding- we don't have one of those either!)

Well, the install is finito! Thanks Dan and Travis for the help. Took a couple hours for the muffler and air intake, but we did alot of looking and talking.

I took it out on I-17 to the next exit and then drove back. I can definitely notice an improvement in getting up to 80 mph. Acceleration was good and the sound isn't much louder.

I'll let you know about the mpg- Thanks again!

Not quite ready to sawzall the fenders quite yet!

I got the Air Cleaner system from SLR. Now I just have to find some heavy plastic to separate it. Right now it's just wide open. Kinda scares me if I go through water.
