Shop needed - advice?

Shop needed - advice? - 24/01/06 08:38 AM

Guessing nobody saw this buried in my other thread:

Ok, after some investigation, it looks like water is indeed getting into the engine. So...any advice on where to take it for a valve job/resurfacing the heads? (or replacing if that ends up being the case?)

I assume a local shop would be cheaper than the dealership?

Thanks!

I can advise where not to go - American Engine Installation. Although I think they mainly just replace engines, rather than rebuilds. They replaced an engine in a Monte Carlo I once owned, which then died 3k miles later.

Sorry Mark, I figured Mike R mighta' answered you.. I can recommend two places, both good with NISSAN engines. Engine house (I-17 and Bethany, or Indian school. Look it up [Finger] ) and Dicks Cylinder Head on Cavecreek and Greenway, right nest to the Red Onion bar/grill. Both do great work.

Nope, haven't had time to take it in. I'm going to take it over to one of the places Dan recommended near me on Monday. I'll post when I hear back from them. Everyone pray nothing is cracked smile

That works too. Its at the Engine House. They did a compression test and one of the cylinders was bad. They are tearing it apart right now...

Hopefully the report comes back with a fairly cheap result. There are so many things that it could be. Good luck!
