winches and jacks, oh my!

This may seem kind of silly, but, c'mon, it's me..
Does anyone else have a jack or winch they've never used? Would anyone be interested in a demonstration of winching and using a jack to winch? I know the proper technique for lifting my truck, I'm interested in properly winching with it too if necessary. There's a lot of safety issues to be ccovered and I'm sure a refresher course will benefit many. smile Perhaps at the next mtg.?

Good idea~

I believe the person we'll have to get for the training class is Mike LeMartz with his rescue X.

He has the gadgets and knowledge of the hi-lift.

Speaking of winches, I just used my Warn M8000 to pull out a good sized stump in the front yard. laugh

Of course I used a tree-saver strap and didn't stand in the "kill-zone". A bit of digging, a chop of a few roots, and up it came. [Laughing]

Four months go by and "bump" is the best you can do?

[Huh?]

I don't even think LaMarsh is still around anymore. Last I heard he had sold his X.

What's the sudden urge to bring the topic back up? Thinking of adding a winch or just wanting someone to show you how to save your butt next time you get stuck?

laugh wink

As you can see the subject never went any further and it's just as prudent today.. Why don't you learn us all with your aged wisdom? :p We can all use the help. I figure Table Mesa is an excellent training grounds for all types of driving, and "un-stucking".

Tip #1: Don't stick your fingers in anything that turns, moves, winds, or makes loud noises.

This applies to most things in life.
