Xploring on Saturday

Xploring on Saturday - 23/02/05 05:51 PM

I'm going to be taking the rig out for some exploring on the east side of Table Mesa. I've done this trail before and it's pretty fun and has great views. Plus, I can almost guarantee that none of you have been on it before.

Anyone want to join? let me know and I'll set a time to meet at the Carefree Chevron.

Hey Xrock , I might be able to make it out Saturday for a while, what time were you thinking? Might be helping Gabe on a project otherwise, we might be doing it friday night,

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 23/02/05 09:11 PM

Nothing too early. Maybe meet at 9:30 and head up. It's probably 3-4 hours of fun but if someone needed to leave earlier it wouldn't be a problem to go back the way you came.

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 25/02/05 09:52 PM

What's the trail difficulty Level on this trail?

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 25/02/05 10:27 PM

I should be there... But Like Dbax mentioned I have to run it by the wife first to see if she has anything planned for me to do that cant be put off Again until another time [Laughing] [ThumbsUp]
Well on a positive note, although I didnt make the trail run, I did accomplish the tasks I needed to do and the wife is happy. So next time we do a trail LOL count me in.

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 26/02/05 06:32 AM

It's not that hard. Most of it is 2wd friendly. Just scenic and interesting.

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 26/02/05 03:51 PM

Just a couple more...

Edit to add- What a great find! Thanks XROCK. This is a great trail (maybe a 3(of 10) with 2 or 3 5 or 6 rated obstacles. Short on technical stuff, but long on the scenic end. Definitely would recommend as a future club Xcursion. [ThumbsUp]

Nice pics Dan. [ThumbsUp] Looks like a sweet trail.

You think a "mall-crawler" could do that trail w/o too much trouble? smile

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 26/02/05 07:24 PM

Yes- Very fun! It seems like you're in high country and it's right off 17.

AZ version of the wedge:

The pictures don't do it justice because back just a bit there is a big dropoff.

The Cruiser cowboy:

Nice meeting you Mike - Always good to see you Dan!

Not if you mean the Armada..Too big for some shelfs and there are plenty of desert pinstriping parts you couldn't avoid eek . Now, if it's the Land Rover, you'd be just fine [ThumbsUp]

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 26/02/05 07:42 PM

Thanks Dan... Fortunately, or unfortunately...the Rover is GONE. The guy picked it up on Wednesday...

I'm gonna see if I can score a super cheap 4x4...don't really care what it might end up being - just something I can work on and not care about how it looks. laugh

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 27/02/05 07:04 AM

How about an Omigog? I heard one was for sale down in Sierra Vista a while ago...

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 27/02/05 08:03 AM

WTF's an Omigog?
Posted by: NOSUP4U

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 27/02/05 08:58 AM

I could have the name wrong, but its a 6 wheel drive vehicle, that is 'hinged' in the middle. (It can both turn and twist in the middle). I thought it was called an Omigog, but of course can't find reference to it anywhere. I'll dig around if nobody here knows what I'm talking about. Its pretty sweet.

Maybe its called a gatagoat or something like that? I always get them confused...

Anyway, 6 wheels, can drive over anything. Looks like the mars rover.

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 27/02/05 10:28 AM

Heh. "Unimog" or "Ohmygod" maybe? I recall seeing a couple off hwy 17 somewhere north of here, and north of the Sedona area. Of course that was after the Grand Canyon run so my brain was a mess at the time - I don't know where I was. smile

A Unimog would rock, but they fetch some $$.

Jeep, Scout, something like that. I see enough "beaters" while driving around for work that I may just knock on doors if I see something I like - on jackstands - in the yard. smile

Re: Xploring on Saturday - 27/02/05 11:34 AM

I think a Unimog was what was stuck in my brain, but that wasn't what I was talking about. This thing is a 6wheeled beast. I'll find it and post...

Designed to swim INLAND waters (not sea/ocean)
Conditions: The key is FOUR (4): no WAVES over four inches and no swimming in streams, cross flowing (90 degrees) that are over four miles per hour (crossing streams more than 30 inches deep is swimming - you may FORGE stream speeds at higher rates).

While swimming never try to make sharp turns -- the Gama Goat was designed to go from point A to point B with no pleasure boating or fishing trips! So, when you do it, just cross and don't make pit stops.

Edit to add- Get me one in Yellow and I'll consider it GOING UP ?

Here are two movies if you're interested:

DBAZ Puddle Romping ...

Conundrum, still muddy because I've been back twice since CK run and I must now wash the Truck.

DBAZ, on the trail you gave me shit about the correct line to take on the wedge and it was your truck that was in the rut. An apology is in order:D
