Thomas- both Sat and Sun
Mark Swartz- Sat run Sun cleanup (no camp)

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 22/04/03 08:49 AM

Nice! UPDATED!

We'll try and organize a big bbq /bonfire for Saturday night once we figure out who's going.

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 22/04/03 09:42 AM

Do we need pallets or anything for the bonfire? I might be able to find some old ones at work. I wouldn't be able to bring them out though, as I'll have 3 passengers and a dog in my truck, so someone would have to come by and pick them up at my house on their way out. (we're on the way sort of). Or maybe I could tie them on the roof? Hrm... suggestions?

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 22/04/03 10:11 AM

Pallets would be cool- only thing is: we'd have to 4 wheel with them up there all day first.

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 22/04/03 11:10 AM

Add Kerry to the list too.

She's not much on the 4 wheeling stuff but knows the importance of the clean ups, she's in.

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 22/04/03 11:40 AM

If you need a hand lugging the pallets around I don't mind. I'll just putt them on top and I think I have enough rope to make them stay. Are you on the way out of town?

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 22/04/03 01:47 PM

I'm at Tatum and Dynamite. Let me check on the pallets today.

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 22/04/03 01:50 PM

Can someone post the logistical info again for the run? I don't see it anywhere. I need to know where we are meeting (I17/carefree I assume), when, where we are heading, etc. Just trying to plan my coming and going on Saturday.

And then for Sunday, what time are we meeting to do the cleanup? I am hoping to make it.

Thanks!
Mark

It's under the Meeting recap thread, but we'll do it in this one, sice it pertains:

Saturday- Noon meeting at the I/17 & Carefree exit gas station. Immediately east of the exit.
Be there early so we can leave by 12:15 or so.

Sunday- 9am at the Ranger station (more details on this to come)

I'm in for the camping. Brian bring the guitar or else. Is my audience coming?

I might not make it out that early Sat, though. Anybody running got a CB, or do you know about where you will camp?

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 23/04/03 10:22 AM

Yeah.. can you do a little "Disturbed" maybe "Down with the sickness"??? or maybe "Stupify".. Dottie REALLY likes that one

[Too much XOC]

I'll be comin' in from the East side on Saturday meeting up with all of you. My new sneakers rub too much to do the west side of New River Canyon.

Will any of you be on an FRS/GMRS radio? If so what channel.. It doesn't really matter.. not too many places you can get lost out there.. We'll find you. :p

See you all there...

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 23/04/03 10:56 AM

Well, if we're meeting at noon, we won't get started on the trail until 1pm probably.

If you want to start at Seven springs about 4 or 5 going west it shouldn't take ya too long to run into us.

Not sure where we plan on camping.

Disturbed is my favorite although hard to play on accoustic because they do a crazy drop tuning thing that's hard to replicate.

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 23/04/03 05:16 PM

I'm running from the East, leaving Maricopa at three. I'll probably get to 101 and Scottsdale road by 4, wanna meet there?

All four shoes or is it just the front sneakers rubbing?

Rears hitting the fender lips due to the aftermarket rims offset. eek The fronts will probably rub also when the conditions are right. ie: full articulation with wheels turned. frown

Would be cheaper to buy new rims to correct this than a suspension lift kit, since even with a suspension lift when you articulate the suspension it is still gonna hit in places. You would only reduce the amount of rubbing since it wouldn't rub around town, but offroading you would be hearing it frequently.

A body lift would be the only other solution. They aren't too expensive, but the labor to install these is crazy, as well as anything frame mounted like sliders would need to be customized as well as any aftermarket bumpers and then the hitch would be 2 or 3" lower than the body. [Geek]

I picked up one of the Radio Shack CB's on sale for $39 and paid about that for the antenna so I'll be listening for you too. Breaker 17 good buddy, you gotta see this passenger seat pocket mount I got going on.

And I've been working on Free Falling so I can try and keep up with Brain. Bring 'em if you got 'em. And a bundle of firewood too. You can tell me stop but you can't burn the guitar.

See ya all there [Wave]

Also, XROCK.. do you guys have any idea where you're going to want to camp?

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 25/04/03 09:24 AM

No idea~ Sorry, but I haven't been out there in awhile. There's just the one main rd coming down.

If you want, go to the Seven aprings parking area and wait until we drive by. With the cb's you should be able to get them long before you see us.

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 25/04/03 10:33 AM

Ok.. I know of a place but it's before the camping area.. You'll be able to see us off the the South just before 41 ends. There's a side road that will go off to your right. I think it will fit all of us.

See ya there!!!

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 25/04/03 03:22 PM

Pot Luck Saturday Night-
Fearless leader asked me to take care of the Saturday night BBQ infrastructure. I have charcoal just in case, some grill grates (could use another one or two) We'll provide some burgers, dogs buns, and basic condiments so no one has to go hungry unless they want to. Any vegans out there? I can bring tofu but you have to cook it 'cause I don't know how.

Re: Xcursion / Cleanup this weekend - 25/04/03 03:27 PM

Is anyone else bringing firewood?

I have 5 wood pallets I'll bring for you guys to burn.

Not sure how much force the roofrack can hold, but if it gets ripped off while we're 4wheeling, hopefully you guys can help me stick it back on... wink

To bad you couldn't make it Tonka and Krazy you missed a fun camp. We gotta solve those rub issues.

Another great deed accomplished, hats off to all who attended, thanks Michelle for coming out.

I did learn something......

Watch Spooky around the campfire. Really watch him if he says "it's a dud".
