July Xcursion - ???

July Xcursion - ??? - 25/06/08 06:02 PM

Any thoughts? I am of the mind to maybe hit up a non-offroad event due to the heat.

Maybe Go-Karts, Dave & Buster's, Waterpark, ???

Another idea is to burn some $4.15/gal gas and head up to the FR 300 area or perhaps WAAAY east i.e. White Mountains for some camping.

I think Mikhail said he could get a group discount at F1 Race Factory...

On another note: I'm going tomorrow to meet with the screen printing guy doing the shirts. I basically just need to pick the right color, we agreed on Fuscia, right? :p

We will have shirts to pass out VERY soon... [ThumbsUp]

I like the go-kart idea. We can use their fuel instead of ours. Saturday is a work day for me, so I'll come along if it is after 4 or 5ish.

I'm down for just about anything that doesn't involve being out in the heat.

Karting can be fun. The discount I was talking about comes through Employee Network. The website is www.employeenetwork.com then in Discount categories go to Travel Entertainment, Kart Racing is a subcategory in there. Since my company is part of it, it's possible to get a 10% group discount.
Anyone else has some sort of discount to this place or any other entertainment area?

Linda and I do through our perspective employers. I just never have looked at them closely.

Went camping Way East this time of year once - Hannigans Meadow our near Alpine / Eagar. One thing we found out - this time of year that's where all the damn Monsoon storms start out.

The Day would start lovely and sunny, then at 10am every day the clouds would role in and it would rain / thunder solidly until around 3pm. Add that to the 10,000ft altitude where my unfit ass could barely suck enough 02 to walk from the X to the tent, added for a slightly interesting trip huddled around a propane burner - as even tho it was pissing with rain every day, there was a camp fire ban and at night it dropped to 40°.

Never seen so many Elk in my life tho driving in / out of there, there were herds of the suckers crossing the roads. Very interesting experience.

Rinky - sounds like quite an experience. I have always wanted to get out east and camp near Hannigan Meadow, maybe do some fishng, but it is quite a drive.

Good point on the monsoon starting out that way too. Summer may not be the time to go.

Hannigans meadow is a nice little camp ground, lots of hiking trails etc. out from there. Apparently there is a lake / stream or somethin about 1/2 mile from the camp and we started hiking towards it one morning, but then the storms rolled in.

We drove there at night - Big mistake, elk all over the place.

Any ideas on what date the excursion will be? I want to try to plan my work schedule around it so I can come along.

Go play some indoor golf. A friend went recently and said it was a blast.

Basically virtual golf inside a batting cage in front of a big screen, real club selection, real beer! laugh

Did that in a bar in Boise, ID. We played 18 holes in Hawaii, and another 18 the next night in Antigua.
Good idea..

Looks like my weekends in July are locked up with other things, so I will not make it to golf/kart racing/? frown

Someone else is gonna have to take point on this one. [ThumbsUp]

The official club run was originally scheduled as Mingus Mtn / Smiley Rock on July 19th. Unfortunately, I'll be in Fla. for work, so I won't be able to attend.

The only weekend in July that I am available is this weekend. Aaron, myself, and a few others are going to do a quick run to Saguaro Lake on Saturday if anyone is interested.

Re: July Xcursion - ??? - 05/07/08 05:21 PM

We had a great time today. It's a bummer that Penski had to turn back after attempting the first hill.

Onix, Yasha, and I pressed on and had some tippy fun! We made it to Cove3 before turning around and heading out.

I'll post pics in another thread, as this thread is supposed to be for the official July Xcursion.

EDIT: Saguaro Lake Picture Thread

EDIT2: Video Thread

Well, I am flying back to Phoenix late Friday night, so I wouldn't mind doing something on Sunday. Is anyone offroading this weekend?
