Re: PML Time - 16/08/05 01:17 PM

Be sure to visit an alighment shop after cranking Tbars...your wheels will be toed in after lifting.

That...or if you and a buddy use a tape measure, you can adjust the tierods out yourself to give yourself aout 1/8-1/4" of toe in.

Grn-X / 2explore. PM me the address and time you guys are doing this. I wouldn't mind coming out to help if I'm not busy in the morning. As I'm going to be doing one myself in the near future.

Re: PML Time - 19/08/05 04:15 PM

I just did mine yesterday. It was very easy and kinds fun also. The ride is a little rougher but still handles well. I left about 1/2 inch from the bumpstops. I can barley fit my finger between them. Mabye I should drop it down a turn or two?

Sorry no heads up rinky, but now that I know how to do this, I can come help you when you are ready, or you can come to my house near South Mountain and we can do yours when you get your shackles.
We had a bit of a learning curve, and had to call Gabe at work for pointers, but got it done, and turned out great.

Looks nice, [ThumbsUp] sorry I was unable to help out. Glad scott was available to hook you up.

Re: PML Time - 20/08/05 10:50 PM

What size are those tires currently? I still have a little live left in my 31's, until I save enough for a new set after my PML.

Also. After researching the Calmini & SLR shackles it looks like the SLR have 2 options 1" or 2". Whereas Calmini are 1.5". I do like that flash of blue under there. Maybe I'll go for the same ones.

I too just happened to look at the posts online so I decided to head over to Linda's in Surprise. I called Ty at the station and he said he was game so we started at 10am. Thanks to Gabe for the advice.

Re: PML Time - 21/08/05 04:40 PM

Thought I had a good deal on 31" BFG AT's on 15" Desert Runner Rims, but the current owner is a bit too proud of his used tires, so I am going to either get the BFG AT KO's in a 265/70/17 (31.6"), or the rugged Trails in the same size as I have been told the 70/17's are a much better tire than the stock, but not as good off-road as the AT KO.
I would love to put the 285/70/17's on (32.7"), but think i would need the BL and trim to make those fit.
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 22/08/05 03:40 PM

BL is cheap! smile

Re: PML Time - 22/08/05 03:42 PM

Ty, if you get a body lift, so will I. [ThumbsUp]
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 22/08/05 05:17 PM

I also recently did a PML. If you both do BL's mabye I'll join in. What the hell right.

I'm currently running BFG/AT 31x10.5. With my PML I'm going to purchase either 32x11.5 BFG/MT or Goodyear/MTR of the same size. With all this BL talk I might have to push it up to 33's. My 31's are pretty much done for. Was going to get some new tread next week.
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 22/08/05 06:29 PM

Unfortunately, there is no way to justify a BL to Brenda atm.... [Crybaby]

Gonna have to live with the PML and new tires for a while.....I will be happy to come watch/assist with beer drinking while you do yours tho

Conundrum I did save the two rear stock rugged's for you. one has about 500 miles on it, the other about 19K.

Re: PML Time - 23/08/05 01:06 PM

WOW. Looks awesome with those tires on there, how much did the tires set you back? If ya don't mind me asking. Tires are part of my future plans. My rims are only 15" tho I think, so they should be a little cheaper than 17's. I'm ordering the Shackles possibly this evening when I get home. Someone purchased a bunch of stuff from my yourfuturedomain.com site, so I made a bunch of commission this month smile
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 23/08/05 01:21 PM

5 tires, mounting, disposal, tax, warranty, was $1100......Damn 17" rims.....the 15" tires are about 50 bucks less per tire.
Needless to say, I need to work some overtime shifts to pay for my mods.....bah...hate ot shifts on the ambo.
Musssst keeep modding!

P.S. you ahve a pm RiNkY

Re: PML Time - 23/08/05 01:33 PM

Yeouch. I think I'm going to go for the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos. Tire Rack have them for $126 a piece and I can get them fitted / balanced for $10 each.

Or the Bridgestone Dueler M/T's for about $150 a piece. Gotta love 15" wheels! smile

Not sure how well the 265/70's will fit on my 2000 tho. I've got 31x10.5's on at the moment, but they rub slightly so I'd need to trim I think, even with the PML to fit anything bigger.

I just put the MT's in the cart at Tire Rack to find out how much shipping would be. $96.00 for 4 by UPS Ground. That ain't to bad! So for 4 the same size that I have now (31X10.5SR15) including shipping would be $679.60
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 23/08/05 01:44 PM

You might check out 4wheelparts.com as well.
they have the BFG's that I have in a 31x10.50R15 T/A KO for 120.99 each, and the 32" for 127.99 each with free shipping with the warranty, but they have stores locally, so you can jsut go get them if you want
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 23/08/05 02:04 PM

Nice. Thanks for the info. Didn't realize those guys did tires, even tho I was stood in their store a few weeks ago getting my tow strap and probably surrounded with them! lol. That's a pretty good deal on the 32's. I wonder how much rubbing I'd get tho after the PML. hmmmm. Tires are a couple months away yet, gotta get the PML done first, then wear out the tires I've got! smile

I've gotta say, I love my Dueler MTs, except for the way they've chewed away my wheel wells wink Honestly Rinko, I'd go with ATs if I were you. You're not going to get much more crazy than you did in Flag with the group at Fat Tire [ThumbsUp] . While MTs would've certainly have helped you in that instance, for your daily driving, the ATs would suit you best. smile

Re: PML Time - 28/08/05 07:05 PM

My shackles arrived on Friday. Considered bringing them and some tools camping, but figured the 130mile drive with the tracking possibly all over the place might not be such a good idea.

Hope to get them installed next weekend, but I'm also installing a wood floor in someones house, so migtht have to try and get it done one evening this week. Maybe Friday evening? Anyone up for giving this poor man a hand with his lift? smile

Edit to add: Man that looks GREAT with the new tires!

Re: PML Time - 29/08/05 04:50 PM

Just left Discount Tire. Rolling some 32x11.5 BFG Mud-Terrains. The X looks sick. I'll post a pic as soon as I get my digi cam to work. It's not in a good mood today. I've noticed a little rubbing in the front on turn while going into elevation change. Curb or whatever. More rubber, less plastic. smile
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 29/08/05 06:53 PM

Damn, didn't know 32's would fit so well. Maybe after the PML I'll consider that size if I don't get the 05.
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 29/08/05 06:55 PM

the only disadvantage I ever saw with 32s and a shackle lift is that a 32 doesn't fit very well underneath the X as a spare. You have to air it down bigtime to get it to fit or either get a rear tire carrier. laugh
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 29/08/05 07:09 PM

Didn't really think to much about a spare! lol. My spare is more of a 'Get me to the tire shop when I have a flat' kinda deal than something I'd consider investing $130 in to match the other 4 tires.

Speaking of which, I went out last night after getting back from camping and one of my tires was flat. Hooked up the compressor and poored some soapy water over and had a nice hole center tread. No nail or anythin, so no idea where I picked that up. Glad I made it home from camping safely on it tho.

Took it to Gunnells in Mesa as always and they repaired it Free of Charge. Love that place, won't take my cars anywhere else for tire issues. Not the best prices on new tires tho.

Re: PML Time - 01/09/05 01:39 PM

So what is the plan Rinky? You need help with a PML, or gonna send the shackles back, and get the '05?
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 01/09/05 02:54 PM

Still need help sometime this weekend. Sunday or Monday even works for me. Still no confirmation on the job yet, plus I have to try and get a dealer to pay off the $10,000 I owe on my X, which ain't going to be easy.

Re: PML Time - 04/09/05 05:30 PM

Been laying wood floor all day, plus all dya yesterday. I ache like a son of a bitch, looks nice as hell, shame it's not my house yet! smile

It's looking more like weekend after next for the PML, next weekend being Camping at the Claim. Don't fancy tackling it there and then trying to drive home with the alignment out of whack.

If I get bored tomorrow at home I might give it a try myself, anyone else have the day off tomorrow (Monday) that might be able to help?
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: PML Time - 14/09/05 02:46 PM

you guys with the torsion and shackle lift.....how bad is the alignment after the process? Does it make it more difficult to align? Any complaints to this point?
Posted by: NOSUP4U

Re: PML Time - 14/09/05 03:21 PM

I have AAL's in back and torsion lift in front. When I first had it done, I had the alignment done somewhere with a $40 alignment coupon I got in the mail....when it was done it wasn't aligned properly and they told me it was just so far out they did the best they could. (meaning, it could never be any better)

Since then I had the dealership tell me that was bull, and I have the lifetime alignment at Firestone now that we get with a discount thanks to DBAX, and its all good.

His email address (rholgate@gmail.com) is on the AZXC website.

Boy, he must really have his sights set on an '05. laugh

Are you going to Friday's meeting? He may as well bring them so you don't have to pick them up. I don't believe we've met and you can see what we do and maybe get more invovled.

See ya, [Wave]

Re: PML Time - 15/09/05 05:07 PM

Not got the 05 yet, still no confirmation of my promotion. Checking with HR today they expect a decision next week. I'll deffinately have an 05 or 06 before Christmas tho regardless of promotion so it's not worth installing the shackles.

I paid $50.00 plus shipping of about $9 from Calmini, they are yours for $50 if you want them. As advised they are still in the original shipping box, I just opened the box to make sure everything was there. So you can save yourself the shipping.

I'm on University / Dobson in Mesa, or I can bring them to tomorrow nights meeting.
