Maybe. It will depend on how much rain we get and if I can get the other service on my truck that needs to be done in time.

Theo -

Do you need anything else from me besides the license plate #?
Also, how long are we planning on being out there that weekend?

Re: Peacock Flats 2/18 - 04/02/07 11:45 PM

I'm thinking we go either friday night or Saturday early AM. Play around Saturday, camp. Wake up when we wake up, cook breakfast break down and head out from there.. [drink]

ETA: Besides you license plate # I got all I need.

From what I have heard there are primative bathrooms up there but no running water so be prepared for that. What do you want to bring as far as food and beverage goes??

ETA again: If we don't get anyone else bad ass 4x4 is planning a trip up there that weekend. If anything we could make it a joint run. They know those trails up there as well so it would definetly help.

Dudes, I'm in.
Probably better for me to show up early Saturday morning and just camp one night, but I'm totally down.

Re: Peacock Flats 2/18 - 06/02/07 12:00 AM

This is still for the weekend of the 17th right?

And I'm with you guys on going Saturday. Let's check things out/wheel a bit, camp that night and come back sometime Sunday.

Food-wise? I guess whatever is easiest to BBQ Sat. night. I'm thinking burgers/steaks and of course, plenty of beer. We'll also need some firewood/charcoal and water. We'll talk about it more as the weekend gets closer.

Just so ya know, I have a portable propane barbeque just for mobile situations just like this. It would actually fit nicely in a roof rack...

Re: Peacock Flats 2/18 - 08/02/07 12:41 PM

Ok talked to a friend who has been up there before and there aren't any fire pits. Soooo.. I am thinking about going to pick up a 50 gal drum and cut it in half. Take it up there and use that as a fire pit.. As far as fire wood.. I can get some at bellows, its free and we can take as much as we want and the guy can cut it up using a chain saw. I will look into making a run over to that side Friday night to p/u some if anyone else wants to go let me know. I sent in the permit last night. But if anyone else wants to go let me know.. ASAP.

Just becareful out there. Word on the trail is that there were police and DLNR out there giving out tickets to some. Just bring a fishing pole stay on the trails and Malama Ka Aina and you will be fine.

Re: Peacock Flats 2/18 - 11/02/07 09:08 PM

Sounds like we're set. Should be a good time.

Theo - I'm not sure you have to go through the trouble of getting and cutting an oil drum for a fire. Can't we just clear an area, get some rocks and dig a fire pit?

Todd - your little gas grill sounds like the ticket - at least for dinner Sat. night. We'll just get some stuff from Costco and do burgers, steaks or whatever...

Let's figure out who's bringing what over the next few days and what you guys feel like eating. Looking forward to it.

Re: Peacock Flats 2/18 - 12/02/07 01:35 AM

I'm good with burgers, beans, and beer for dinner. One of my friends is going to be taging in with us in his Jeep. So I will keep him in the loop for everything as well. As far as fire wood from what I have heard there is plenty up there already.

Re: Peacock Flats 2/18 - 13/02/07 09:19 PM

Ok how does this sound for everyone for food break downs.

Friend and I will bring dinner and munchies for Saturday night.

Todd can you bring Breakfast??

Krisjon- Can you bring beer and other drinks??

Let me know what you think. Otherwise one person can just go out and buy everything and we can split the bill 4 ways.

Todd. I got in touch with Chaney I am picking up a Safari rack from him tomorrow AM. Let me know when you can come pick it up. Im looking forward to this weekend already.. [drink]

Oh snap! Is it possible to drop it off at the base on Friday? I'm driving the beetle the next two days, but I'm thinking about driving the X on Friday cause I have duty overnight and wanna maybe get some lights that I can install in my downtime.

Oh, and I can make some killer breakfast.

Re: Peacock Flats 2/18 - 15/02/07 01:10 AM

What kind of beer do you guys like/want? I'm a complete beer snob, so I need to ask before I bring something that will illicit cries of "good god, this is too strong/bitter/dark/hoppy...." you get the picture. [drink]

Theo - I can pick it up at lunch too if you're around, otherwise I'll just get it from your house. Text me your address and I can mapquest it.

Krisjon - Same with me, I'm game for anything.

Also, I dunno if it'll affect much, but I think I've got a passenger coming along.
