No - Its not even remotely true, its also not actually a tire size.

IF you meant 265/75/16, that's one of the STOCK tire sizes, not an upgrade to larger than stock.

ALL the 2005+ Xterra models have the same tire clearances, regardless of the tire they shipped with, for the PR, OR, S, etc...they can all fit the same sizes.

MOST people with your year get 285/75/16 for example as a small upgrade.

Ya thanks TJ, I meant 265/75/16. Was just keeping it short. Do you need to do a melt mod on a 285 to keep them from rubbing? Was gonna do a small, inexpensive,(no suspension) body lift but not sure that will make a difference with the rubbing?

An SL would help at ride height (only), but if the suspension compresses, for bumps, cornering, braking, or, going on uneven terrain, etc...it will rub the same as w/o a SL.

A BL is really how you make room for tires...but, for 285/75/16's, you don't need either type of lift. Sometimes, you don't even need to melt back the plastic, as on some X's, it wasn't on the mold.

If it does rub, its a minor thing that self clearances if you ignore it, its just plastic. Otherwise, heating it up and pressing it back (Melt Mod) only takes a few minutes and is very easy to do...and its only for the front wells, the rears fit as is.

K. right on TJ. Thanks for you're help. Gonna start looking for some 33's that look good and worry about the rubbing later. I'm usually all about function but for now I want something that looks beefy and wont blow out while crawling over sharp lava rock(I live in Hawaii). I just traded in my Charger(big block Hemi) that I tricked out to be rediculously fast for this X. This is my new project. Good fun so far.

Lava is seriously hard on rubber.



You might be looking for some serious beef. The Interco LTB in a 33 x 13.5/16 is somewhat affordable, and has sticky rubber and sidewalls that are seriously thick.

Looking for wheel spacers that won't be any kind of headache after install. heard good things about Spidertrax but it doesn't look as if they make anything for Nissan. Suggestions?

Yeah, don't use them in front, as they will INCREASE rub on an IFS, not reduce it.

They DO increase clearance on the rear live axle though.

Rugged Ridge has Xterra versions, 1.5" etc...like the spydertrax, etc...billet T6, hub centric, bolt it to the hub, then the rim to it, etc.
