Re: GOX 2004 - 24/03/04 06:21 AM

It may be too presumptious of me, but last night over dinner I made the comment that I would like to start takeing my boys on some of my "long haul" Xcurssions and much to my surprise my wife said "well how about that trip in July ?".

There is only one trip I spoke of and it was GOX, so I suppose I got the [ThumbsUp] from the wife. I really dont think I will bring the boys though. It may be too rough for them.

Soo, tires are the big concern?, I may be able to fanaggle that.

Re: GOX 2004 - 09/04/04 05:01 PM

I am gonna get crap for this one but, Do you mind if a Frontier owner joins you? I live in CO and would love to join fellow Nissan Owners in a meet.

If it's in July that would be sweet.

You would be welcome at events like goneMOAB which just finished up, but GOX events are Xterra only.

Re: GOX 2004 - 11/04/04 08:06 PM

It sounds great. Im way down to rough it, but the only thing that I dont understand is what about people with kids? I dont have any but I know Tony and Danielle were thinking about bringing theirs, but Im not sure they can if its just gonna be one long camping trip along the trail.

Re: GOX 2004 - 11/04/04 10:10 PM

It's going to be 6-7 nights of wilderness camping and pooping in the woods. We have people in our club who bring their kids on our camping trips, so I'm not sure what the problem would be unless they were infants, and wheeling with them is not recommended.

I know my truck isn't allowed, but anyone be willing to sponsor a 'Ride-Along' for a humble Nissan Tech? I'm a helluva spotter! I can fix broken things (not that it's needed). I have a hat! laugh

Re: GOX 2004 - 09/05/04 10:10 PM

There is about three of us that have our minds set on going from AZ. Others are unsure. Any dates Yet?
Posted by: XOC

Re: GOX 2004 - 09/05/04 11:06 PM

The dates haven't changed from those originally posted (in some thread).

July 25th-31st.

I will verify everything by next weekend, as I will know if I have enough work and income to carry me through the Summer.

Re: GOX 2004 - 15/05/04 10:04 AM

Ian, took an informal headcount at a meeting last night and it looks like we'll be at least five drivers now. Perhaps one or two more by the time we roll. You have a running total on attendance this year? EDIT- I'm sure the poll results don't reflect an accurate headcount.

Re: GOX 2004 - 14/07/04 11:21 PM

There have been more changes from AZ. It looks like Dan is out unless a miracle happens. Spooky is still going to be there but it will just be me and Danimal more than likely.

What is the plan when we get to your house?

Re: GOX 2004 - 14/07/04 11:34 PM

WTF ?
Why isn't DBAX coming ?
What about Xrock ?
How many people are staying at my house ?
WTF OMG ?

Re: GOX 2004 - 15/07/04 11:33 AM

Xrock's truck got dismantled last weekend by the parts vultures. It's back to stock now and I think he already sold it.

But due to my extreme kindness, Spook got the steering off it even though I had dibs since I put it on the truck...

I'm such a nice guy....

Desert_Rat, why not grab the wife's Xterra and come on up and fill in for those AZ slackers who are dropping out ? smile

Re: GOX 2004 - 15/07/04 03:03 PM

Slacker? Why I outta'... No really man, if this was 30 days later, (for me) it'd be no problem. It's just been a real bitch at work after having missed almost a month, that and some other shtuff. If anything changes in the next week, I'll be there as I said I would [ThumbsUp] , but right now, unfortunatly, it's not looking so good [ThumbsDown] .

Re: GOX 2004 - 15/07/04 04:15 PM

I'd really like to, but we've got our family vacation scheduled next week and I just don't have the vacation time to come up.....Am taking my extra week this year and headed up to Wyoming to go hunting with my dad in October instead.

Keep doing these overland routes and I may find the temptation too much to resist tho....That route you have planned this year sounds SO GOOD in light of 110 degree heat we've had down here lately.

Then again, you probably don't want my Frontier on a GOX run laugh , else the run would be called GOF...and that just doesn't sound right.

Re: GOX 2004 - 16/07/04 12:53 PM

Ian, for those of us with a ways to travel will you help wink

Where exactly 45 miles from Denver will we be meeting up. I hope to arrive on Sunday just not sure what time.

Don't want to miss you all and I am in no way familiar with the Denver area. Only been there on business.

Re: GOX 2004 - 16/07/04 01:11 PM

Stay tuned for Ian's GOX 2004 descriptive PDF. This document will outline times, trails, camp grounds, etc... This should answer all questions about where and when. smile

Re: GOX 2004 - 16/07/04 01:55 PM

Hey Vince- I'm sending that winch cover for the Calmini bumper with Spooky. I even sent him with the bolts, so you can put it on right away if you'd like.
Unfortunately, Dakota will be at home. The X is LOW and SAD sitting in the driveway- stripped of 3 years worth of mods. frown

Have fun guys!

Re: GOX 2004 - 18/07/04 06:38 PM

Here's where you will be looking for us if the Event Brochure isn't detailed enough.

Use whatever mapping solution you have to find C-470, which loops around Denver to the West and Highway 285. Try to leave this area before 8AM.

Take 285 West toward the area marked Detail.

Overview

You'll pass through lots of small towns only a few of which have traffic lights. You'll notice Bailey because it has a very steep downhill grade into it. Stay at 40MPH, the State Patrol likes to watch that area. Once past Bailey continue on until you pass through Grant. Just after Grant look for County Road 60 (yellow numbers on a blue sign for county roads). Turn off and follow signs toward Webster Pass or Red Cone, I can't remember which. You sould start seeing trucks with ATV's, some camping sites and hopefully a bunch of Xterras.

Take the US-285 SOUTH exit off of C-470 as there is not a US-285 West exit.
