GOX Gas

So what is the average price of gas going to be on this awesome trip of ours? Right now I can get regular unleaded in Tempe for $1.85. Just trying to get my budget right.

This is from the Rocky Mountain News, two weeks ago and still fairly accurate. In most mountain towns, it's about 10 cents higher than Denver:


Colorado's average for regular, unleaded dropped 11.6 cents from the record high of $2.028 per gallon on May 26, and fell 2.7 cents from last week, to $1.912 per gallon, AAA Colorado reported Wednesday.

Metro Denver's average also dropped 10.7 cents in these five weeks, down to $1.868 cents per gallon. A spot check of prices in the Denver area Wednesday showed a range of prices from $1.779 to $1.969 per gallon.

Plan on $2.00+ per gallon for the GOX route. Prices have just edged up a bit in south Denver to $1.90

First couple of nights the nearest station is running at 2.09 the next stop is running about 2.04.

Don't forget you can run 2 points lower octane up here as well. Non-S/C Xterras can run 85.

We'll be filling up in Breckenridge, Johnson Village, Crested Butte and Gunnison, and possibly Ridgway.

$2.00/gal x 64gal=$130 gas each way, not including wheelin' gas...

That's a cheap price to pay for the memories you'll take home with you. Hell, you'll have stories to tell the grand kids.

Air up to 50 PSI for the trip here.

Your drive home will be a lot shorter, so factor that in.
