Club Competitiveness ???

Club Competitiveness ??? - 19/12/01 01:35 PM

Ok please don't flame I just have a suggestion. This year's GOX was so great I will try and not to miss another. I had fun and learned a lot. Some clubs helped organize rides and meals and we all got along fine.

My question is: What do you all think about some good old " My club and our trucks and drivers are better than yours"? That is on some fun competitive rides, trails and or obstacles. Apples to Apples highly modified, modified, stock and 4X2's with each other of same class. Not everyday but maybe once.

We all sit and talked about who did what that day and who from what club accomplished or did not some trail or obstacle. Why not try and keep track and see who's club is really all that?

Remember it's just a suggestion...

I am sure some of you really imaginative people can come up with something.

I win the 1/4 Mile drag race time. We could do it right down the strip on main st in Ouray.

Re: Club Competitiveness ??? - 19/12/01 04:34 PM

Hehehe. I'll give you a 1/4 mile run. And why would you run an Xterra in the quarter mile anyway? Of course I dont race my X, thats why I have my racecar. laugh

Re: Club Competitiveness ??? - 19/12/01 06:08 PM

Jackel has several Race cars... it just so happens his enthusiasm for performance spills over to his X laugh

as for Club Competitions... I'm in... that is if im still a member of AZXC then(i do live in CA now)... if im not... would there be a problem with an "Independent Contingent"? there are quite a few of us...

Suggestions for Event:
Xterra Tractor Pull - Like we did at WEST X with the Sable on the lake bed...

The bog good old fashioned mud bog.... driver and X to make it the furthest wins... this event could have 3 classes... 4x2, 4x4, Xtreme 4x4

Re: Club Competitiveness ??? - 20/12/01 09:18 AM

my friend's dad used to wheel back in the day w/ his jeep. he went to a lot of events & tells us about them. some things they did sounded like really fun contests.
like, a timed obstacle course, but the driver was blind-folded & the passenger had to navigate thru the course. another obstacle course - again timed, but the driver had to carry a bucket of water in his/her lap & get through the course the fastest w/o spilling water - the fastest & least amt of water spilled won. (not sure any one wants a soaked seat - maybe modify this one & strap it to the gear basket.)
can't 'member any more right now - but if you like these suggestions, i'll ask friend's dad if he remembers any more.

We could use the trailer again as a art. ramp and see who can get up the furthurest.

Re: Club Competitiveness ??? - 20/12/01 10:29 AM

Problem with the RTI ramp - basically everyone has the same truck.

Another thing that wouldn't be real interesting simply because we all have the same truck - Turtle race.

Re: Club Competitiveness ??? - 20/12/01 12:20 PM

because truck are so similar we would have to have events that are more about driver skill... the bucket o water thing sounds good... as does the blindfolded driver...

How about a "change the spare tire" race?

Re: Club Competitiveness ??? - 21/12/01 11:00 AM

Club with the most trucks but you need to give a handicap for people going across country maybe 1 extra per 500 or 1000 miles driven.

Speaking of reverse driving obstacle course, they have an interesting thing at Camp Jeep...

They take two vehicles, switch around the steering box to make it behave in the OPPOSITE manner - you turn the wheel left, the truck goes right. They then let you drive on a figure eight course. It is QUITE hilarious to watch people. Once you start driving, you get laughing so hard, it's damn near impossible to drive correctly.

(btw - when I did it, I was able to drive the course at about 20mph - never hit one cone! :p )

We did this in my fraternity for regional events. It was a man mail award. The number of people from a chapter times how many miles they traveled to get there.

We could do a truck/miles award or a man/miles award since some of the people farther away my share rides.

an award for best represented club works.

Driver * miles travelled
Copilot * .5 miles travelled
repeat for all from club.

You can only be in one club.

If that's the case, I also live in Socal and am a member of XTC-HI. Would they get the fifteen hundred miles?
