Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 08/04/07 09:48 PM

You think Datsyuk and a hurting Zetterberg and Bertuzzi can take a beating over 7 games? There's no one tough on that team, Lang and Schneider led the team in PIM's with 66! Hasek will have to stand on his head for the Wings to get past the Flames. I agree with you though, they have played like crap, I thought for sure Playfair would get fired. They're more of a playoff team though-great goalie, hard hitting D and talented grinders.

Vancouver vs Dallas: Vancouver in 4 (I hope so)
Nashville vs San Jose: San Jose in 5

Calgary does not deserve to be in the pay off's, I hope they choke as they did during the regular season

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 09/04/07 04:15 PM

Buffalo-NY Islanders: Sabres are going to roll. In 5.
New Jersey-Tampa Bay: Brodeur has been on fire all year. Devils in 5.
Atlanta-NY Rangers: Thrashers in 6.
Ottawa-Pittsburgh: Heatley goes beserk, scores 4 goals in series. Ottawa in 5.

Detroit-Calgary: Iginla does well, Kiprusoff shuts down the net like Ft. Knox. Flames in 5.
Anaheim-Minnesota: Hopefully Selanne can keep it going. I like the Ducks in 7.
Vancouver-Dallas: I'm going with "Pile Driver" Bertuzzi and gang on this one. Canucks in 7.
Nashville-San Jose: Oooo, this is going to be good. Nashville can light the lamp (highest scoring team in the west this year, I believe), but SJ is a little better on the goaltending. Should be a great matchup. Preds in 7.

Holy sweet fuck, the Pens look HORRIBLE.

Sens 2-0 early in the 1st period. Fleury is playing like shit. He looks rattled already.

I'm finding myself rooting for the Sens...actually, more rooting against the Pens. I'm just not a fan of Crosby.

You guys watching the Nucks/Stars game are missing a helluva game. Sharks/Preds going to 2nd OT. What an intense game. I love playoff hockey!!

Go Sharks.

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 11/04/07 09:15 PM

Sharks win in 2OT, 5-4. Sweet pass by Patrick Marleau to Patrick Rissmiller who roofs it over Vokoun.

What a great fucking game.

Canucks up 4-2 now. That looks to be over.

Ducks and Wild tied at 1-1.

Rissmiller should be very happy that he scored the winner since it was his inability to clear the puck out of his zone and subsequent turnover that lead to the tying goal.

Poor Kipper...the team in front of him sucks balls. This game could easily be 6-0 without Kipper standing on his head.

4-0 Wings going into the third.

Yeah, Zetterberg played....he looked good. He had no goals or assists, but was +2, 4 sog, and had 4 hits. Datsyuk actually scored a goal. eek

Detroit looked really good. They were really precise with their passing. Kipper played great, despite giving up 4 goals. The rest of his team just didn't show up. Brad Stuart got abused. Iginla was for the most part, transparent. Phaneuf got knocked on his butt.

and to think, i was almost upset that i was missing the game because the wifey wanted to take a short culinary class.

Which i might add for you Vancouver folk, the Pacific Culinary Institute on Granville Island, wow! Great experience, a 2 hour gourment 3 course meal cooking/training session followed by a beautiful dinner in their fine dining area.

It was actually fun, especially after finding out from one of the servers, the score to the game.

No, he won't. As you probably know by now, Radulov has been suspended for Game 3. It'll have to wait. Trotz and Wilson battling in the press is quite entertaining.

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 15/04/07 04:04 PM

Can someone explain to me why the Flames are in the playoffs? They play like a midget team out there.

They get outshot by Detroit 51-15! Just like Game 1, if it wasn't for Kipper, the score would have been 10-1. Ugly, ugly hockey.

Also, when you get out-muscled by the Detroit Red Wings....something is seriously wrong. The Wings have been made fun of all season with how wimpy they play, in terms of physical hockey. The Flames are making them look like the Broad Street Bullies of the 1970's.

Here's an idea...Calgary is done. No more hockey for them. Let the Colorado Avalanche try!

Way too much talent on Calgary for them to suck this bad. They look awful!
I wish I could see more of the Pitt-Ott series, it seems to be the only series that looks like playoff hockey. The playoffs are pretty lame this year, the games that I have seen lack the intensity and hitting that I'm used to seeing in playoff games. frown

Let the Colorado Avalanche try!
the avalanche would have won the series, and possibly the next. They were scary good at the end.[/b]

Yeah, the Sharks played disciplined hockey. Preds took a ton of stupid penalties. Sharks dominated the play, most of the game. Sharks PP looks horrid, but I'll take the win.

Vokoun is the ONLY Nashville player who showed up tonight. Without him, the game would have been 7-1 easy. He played great.

Kariya who? I think I saw his face on the back of a milk carton.

Flames finally show some life. They're making kipper work pretty damn hard. This was the first Det-Cgy game I've been able to see...has Phaneuf been playing like a 5th-6th defenseman the whole series? He looked like crap in this game.
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 17/04/07 10:00 PM

JMO, but Phaneuf is overrated...and a punk.

Kipper played great tonight.

Vancouver, Rangers, and Senators are one win away from advancing. Thrashers looked terrible tonight.

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 18/04/07 10:00 PM

Rangers sweep the Thrashers 4-0. Brutal.

Devils win in OT on a sick shot by Gomez to tie the series at 2-2

Sabres win again on the road. Up 3-1 on the Isles

Sharks win again at home, they're up 3-1 on the Preds. Nabby stood on his head. Mike Grier is the heart and soul of this team. He's a lot of fun to watch. Mr. Hustle.

YEah Im giving it to Kipper he is playing well. Its a shame his team is making him work like. Oh well.
That NYR game just wow plus a total sweep wow. Devils to tie the series. Thats going to get interesting. Buffalo to strong right now. San jose I dont get it. But they are looking like a team that wants it. Van vs. dall this sereis has gone the way I didnt think it would.

What a great game between Calgary and Detroit! Calgary evens up the series, way to go boys!
Kiprusoff absolutely stood on his head tonight, he's quicker than I thought. Let's hope Calgary keeps up the pressure.

This was the first playoff game I've gotten to watch this year.

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 19/04/07 11:10 PM

So much for Turco having the label as a playoff flop. Second shutout of the series.

All the shit I talked about Calgary for their first two games, but they play like a completely different team at home. Very strange.

I'm glad the Pens are done. Crosby can whine on the golf course now.

Ducks are for real. Very physical team.

Go Sharks on Friday night!!!
Posted by: hattrik21

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 20/04/07 06:26 AM

Turco has definetly played his best playoff hockey in this series. If they do go out to lose this series, it won't be his fault but the lack of offense as the nucks defense has been outstanding.
Posted by: BigE515

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 21/04/07 03:19 PM

Turco has definitely silenced the critics. What the hell was that cheap shot-cry baby crap at the end of today's Cgy-Det game?? Nilson and Iginla should be more concerned with their teams' crappy play especially on the road than trying to get of all people, Draper and Schneider, to fight.

i don't know claus, after watching that game the nucks seemed pretty dominated on. The only reason it was a relatively a low scoring game was because of Luongo yet again. They couldnt penetrate the Dallas blue line without getting smothered and losing the puck. The Canucks looked pretty flat out there and if they put up another performance like that on monday then they deserve to squander the series.

I'd be lying if i said i wasn't nervous, the momentum has definitely swung but I think it'll be a great game 7 back home.

I was refering to the type of player/person Ruutu and Burrows are. Not a fan, doesn't matter the team-your's, mine...I'm not a fan of "tough guys" that hide behind shields or give another player a cheap shot then hide behind the linesman.

Good to see Detroit win that series...they deserved it. Kipper should bitch slap his entire team. 2 games they gave up 50+ shots.

How fitting that Franzen gets the series winning goal after getting slashed in the gut in Game 6 by McLennan. Karma, bitch.

I'm rooting for the Canucks BIG TIME tomorrow night. As a Sharks fan, I want nothing to do with the Ducks. Nucks win, and the Sharks play Detroit.

Yeah, that was really bullshit to watch. Put the whistle away in these kinds of games, especially late. I think Vancouver got lucky with some of those penalties that went their way, but in the end...they deserved to win the game.

They put a lot of pressure on Turco, and pretty much shut down the Stars offense.

Good luck against the Ducks....you're gonna need it. I'm glad we're playing the Wings. I don't want any part of the Ducks...yet.

My second round picks:

West

(1) Detroit Red Wings vs. (5) San Jose Sharks = Sharks in 6
(2) Anaheim Ducks vs. (3) Vancouver Canucks = Ducks in 5

East

(1) Buffalo Sabres vs. (6) New York Rangers = Sabres in 7

What a game. Well, from a Sharks fan's perspective, the first 30 minutes-or-so was basically hell. The Sharks looked flat and if it weren't for the posts and Nabokov, they would've been in a deep hole.

Thornton played like he was possessed in the 2nd half of the game, though. I swear Wilson was almost triple-shifting him. The line combinations were as different as I've seen them since Guerin joined the team.

I got a nice lapful of nacho cheese, too. A puck came way up over the net and hit the wall 2 rows behind us and the guy (drunk, of course) in front of me decided to stage dive in reverse right over my head. I might not have been been so upset if he had at least ended up with the puck. [Too much XOC] laugh

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 08/05/07 05:01 AM

Hats off to the Wings. The "dinosaur team" looked really good against my Sharks. They certainly deserved to win the series.

Sharks just never played a whole 60 minutes. I hope Ron Wilson gets fired. He's a great regular seasonn coach, but I think he's taken the Sharks as far as he'll ever take them. Patrick Marleau could get traded...he was invisible in the second round, and he's not much of a "Captain." Guerin was a terrible last minute trade. We'll lose Scott Hannan to free agency. I'd love to see the Sharks go after Chris Drury, and Brian Rafalski. We need an offensive, puck moving defenseman in the worst way. They need some playoff vets to compliment the stable of young guys....a player like Gary Roberts comes to mind.

Go Wings. I can't root for the Ducks.
Go Sabres. The city deserves a championship.

As a wings fan, I can say I was very worried about the sharks. They dominated the first 3 games and were up 2-1. Something happened during game [5]. After that 4-1 loss, it seemed to affect game 6 for the sharks.

Is it just me or did The Sharks look tougher than The Ducks did last night?

Whatever, we won; I'll take it!

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 12/05/07 12:42 PM

Well it helps that the Sharks only have 2 players under 6'0", one of which is the goalie, and their lowest weight is 195lbs... i think it's safe to say they are a pretty big team. Give toughness to to San Jose but credit speed to Anaheim

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 14/05/07 09:11 PM

Toughness helps in what the playoffs used to/should be but, apparently speed and a hot goalie is all you need now. The playoffs are no different than the regular season this year. [ThumbsDown]

ditto on that one. It's reality check for the Sabres. To win 4 in a row against Ottawa's defense is highly unlikely. With that said, if any team can win 4 straight it would be Buffalo

Sabres go Bye Bye today....

Detriot and Ottawa would make a helluva final....Fuck Pronger

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

PS-Ducks are up 3-2, why is it every team you route for loses? Start cheering on the Ducks, see if that works. :p

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 22/05/07 10:36 AM

Well, it's nice to see people from other parts of Canada cheering on the Sens.

I can say that I hopped on the Edmonton bandwagon last year, and I was cheering them all the way through after my Sens got ousted by Buffalo in 5 last year.

Poetic Justice is a real bitch, ain't it Buffalo!

Representing from Ottawa,

GO SENS GO! GO SENS GO!

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 24/05/07 07:14 AM

Game 7 will be June 7th, is it just me or are the playoffs running much later this year?
Posted by: Anonymous

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 24/05/07 09:22 AM

no, last year's Game 7 with Edmonton/Carolina definitely ended in June. I still remember getting my truck stuck after i couldnt bear to watch the game anymore.

I think it seems like its running late because our respective teams (Boston/Van) never make it this far...

The fact that the playoffs are fucking soft and lame as hell doesn't help either. frown

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 27/05/07 07:15 AM

[Sleep] NHL, take a little longer in starting the finals. There hasn't been a game in almost a week, it's almost June....a lot of people will lose interest. Do they have any idea how to market their sport, their stars, run their league?????? [ThumbsDown] Way to F*ck it up, Bettman. Go Red Sox.

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 03/06/07 11:04 AM

Go Ducks!!! Since Canucks or Flyers are nowhere to be found. [Uh Oh !] What will I do after the NHL season is over? Guess I have not choice, but to watch yet another Sox/Yankees game on TV. mad

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 03/06/07 10:22 PM

Then get the MLB Extra Innings cable package.

PS-Welcome aboard [Wave]

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 03/06/07 11:09 PM

I came close to getting the extra inning package. But the wife talked me out of it. I can watch about every Mariners game on TV here. So that will have to do.
Thanks for the welcome. You will see alot of me in this section... As long as there is hockey talk. laugh For that matter, I just got back from my game and got a shutout. So what I only faced 12 shots. [LOL]

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 07/06/07 09:07 PM

NBC had the lowest rating for a prime time show EVER for Game 3. Bettman has to get the axe, the NHL is in big trouble. [ThumbsDown]

That would make for huge publicity. I second that notion. NHL is dying in the US.

At least the ducks have the cup and i win a case of beer for it! woot woot

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 10/06/07 04:43 AM

Get rid of the instigator rule. That would alow the enforcers to do there job. The more fights, the more viewers would tune in.

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 10/06/07 05:04 AM

I agree with you, but keep in mind the lack of fights in the NFL and NBA hasnt hurt them on the ratings. The US needs fights to watch the NHL? i guess...

Re: 2007 NHL Playoffs - 10/06/07 07:59 AM

The thing that I can't stand? They wanted to speed the game up by cracking down on hooking and holding, there's a friggin penalty every 5 minutes which slows the game down a hell of a lot more! The dump and chase, let the goalies come out so that teams can't dump the puck in every time they come down, it's the weakest play in sports. [Sleep]
