NJAX Holiday Dinner

NJAX Holiday Dinner - 18/11/07 05:17 PM

Would anybody be interested in a localized holiday dinner? I'd like to give new and old members a like a chance to meet. Maybe we'd get a decent Mod day/event turn out if people weren't so shy? I don't want to throw dates around all month so lets say Friday, December 14th @ 8PM? Bring your wives/girlfriends/etc. I think we can get the most people to go if we stick to central Jersey.

Keith and TJ have to go.. wink So atleast we'll have 3 so far..It can also be a celebratory TJ is back on the road dinner..

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 19/11/07 11:47 AM

I would like to attend, but that is a bad weekend for me.

Maybe an "after-holiday" party in January could have a bigger turn out.

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 20/11/07 07:11 AM

After X-Mas is better...the 14th is a company X-Mass Party anyway for me.

Maybe more of a new year event?

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 07/12/07 09:53 AM

I was passing through Exton on my way to Harrisburg, Reading, Lancaster, etc. I'm a road salesman I'm just saying Exton would be far for him to travel here for a dinner.

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 07/12/07 09:56 AM

Its not just a "diner"...its a social event.

laugh

Besides, its not like we've settled on a venue for this shin dig yet.

Obviously, the more centrally located, the better.

Anyone know WHERE this central location IS?

laugh

(A good Frapper Project actually...Anyone know how to set that up...?)

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 07/12/07 10:30 AM

Well what did we wanna do? Fancy? Casual? Drinks? Coffee type stuff? I'd think a Rafferty's type place will do. I don't care where it is but I would guess central NJ is the easiest for everyone. Rt.9 or Rt.1 / New Brunswick area. Hell, I'll go out to PA if that makes us all happy.
Posted by: TJ

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 07/12/07 04:57 PM

Lets see, right after X-mas, etc...not fancy, every one will be broke. laugh

Dinner/drinks, casual type atmosphere, etc.

We did it at Bills Tavern in Hamilton, NJ last time, as the foods good, the drinks are not that expensive, its easy to get to from Philly areas, and its right off of a lot of major routes, like Rt 95, 295, 130, 33, etc.

The only thing I didn't like about Bills was it was crowded with OTHER people...and a bit loud to talk easily.

I think we need to know who's coming from where, and just pick someplace vaguely central that has good food and drink, etc.

laugh

Assuming last time's Hamilton, NJ location is somewhat central...how far is every one from there? - AND from what direction...

...as in, if most people say they have to go south to get to it, we can move the location to a more northern area, based upon how FAR NORTH everyone says, etc...

...or south, or what ever.

laugh

I'm about 20 minutes WEST of it.

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 09/12/07 05:22 AM

Assuming the date works out for me,I'm in for a dinner. Casual, with a bar, is the type of place. Something like Applebees, Houlahans, Chili's, (family type) is fine. Somewhere around New Brunswick / Somerville would be fine and probably equally accessible to most attendees (come to think of it, there is a Lone Star steak house on Route 22 in Bridgewate). Bridgewater Diner on Route 22 has good food, but I'm not sure if they serve alcohol.

I'm in Avon at the shore...but drive to the other side all the time...as long as it's not NORTH....I'm good. I used to live in Hamilton and then Cherry Hill......so I know the way. I also run over to Cinnaminson often, so.............just say when and where!

Ken...I hope you can come!

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 30/12/07 04:58 PM

We can switch it from a holiday party to a gathering. 1/19/08? I'm down for a few beers it's been a while since I drank. We can take a poll for either 1/12/08 or 1/19/08. I'm good for either/or if we set it up early enough in advance. Otherwise maybe we'll just hang out the night before the niora run if your all going..

Bill's Olde Tavern in Hamilton worked last time....a bit noisy to talk...but the food/drink was good.

The Windsor and New Brunswick locations just mentioned are not too bad for me either.

I THINK Milltown is by North Brunswick?

Yep, that Hamilton. Bill's is right by rt. 295 kinda.

Pine Barrens run would be fun. Someone with a good, detailed GPS is necessary though. Otherwise the Jersey Devil might get ya. laugh

Depending on how many show up...it might be prudent to call Bill's and reserve a table. The place is not "that" big. But, there are other places in there area, off of 295 or rt. 1, like Uno's, Chili's, and stuff.

I am trying to think of other places that might be "centrally" located.

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 21/01/08 11:32 AM

That was a good time, even if it was a long drive there and back. Maybe we can move it north at bit next time?

Update on the codes. Since they were cleared, the SES light has stayed off. I think maybe the mechanic might have knocked something when he was doing the clutch job (the light came on jst after the clutch job). If the light stays off, I am fine.

It was fun hanging out, meeting Eric's future X-wife Jennifer, and so forth.

laugh

Jennifer's great btw...Eric just need's to chill a bit.

wink

I too have no problem migrating North...especially if the next one is during warmer weather. [drink]

Considering everyone's crazy schedules...we did pretty well as far as turn out...the food was excellent, and with the booze and food, the bill was reasonable too.

Lets start picking another location...we've done Bill's Tavern twice now...how about the Brunswicks or other more northern locale, a non-chain place with atmosphere, etc.

laugh

Any suggestions?

Re: NJAX Holiday Dinner - 23/01/08 08:07 AM

New Brunswick would be a good location for the next one. I am sure that there are some good college-like places there, I just don't know them. Anyone know that area?

Btw, the SES light stayed off for two days, and is back on. The truck runs fine, so I figure it is the O2 sensor.

I know New Brunswick well as I went to Rutgers. I'd think Princeton would be better or even Westfield, etc. Either way let me know if you want New Brunswick and We'll def go! Old Man Raffterty's is always a good time. You have to be able to fit in a parking deck though.

Go figure, the SES light turned itself off after about a week. Still runs fine.
