2005 Xterra Product Releases

Uhh, where's the info for the brake lines?

It's finally released!

I have had this kit on for over 2 months now and I love it! I will post pictures shortly (my work computer has XOC locked out during normal hours) but I have to say that Calmini has done their work on this kit.

I installed the AAL kit with the spacers. The rear end bottoming out is GONE! The front end bucket issues that people have talked about is apparent on my set up. (This is also the case with Daystar and all other spacer lifts) It occurs when offroading when you have a quick drop of or over serious bumps going fast. On the road, the UCA and bucket do not hit. The ride is very nice.

No brake lines problems as of yet, but the lines should be available soon - I haven't seen any clearance/flex issues but Calmini will be sending me a set to test out.

I can't tell you guys how hard its been to not post any info. But I will confirm this:

1. The shim pieces under the axle will get rid of the vibration at 30mph.

2. 285s still hit the rear fender area reguardless of the lift... its just part of the limitations UNLESS you re-route a vacuum line that is behind some plastic on the drivers side.

3. I have put over 250 miles offroad and the kit has not sagged, nor have the stock bilsteins sagged. I have put over 2,000 miles onroad - there is no compromise in how it feels.

4. Stock Bilsteins in the rear are FINE. I have not had any problems with them being a limitation in flex.

DBAX, the lines are in productions right now. The front units should be ready in a couple of weeks, with the rear lines for the Xterra becoming available late March

Looks great Robert! Good job on the spacer lift Calmini, and free shipping on pre-orders! You can't beat that deal. If I wasn't waiting on 5inches, I would jump all over this.

Have you relocated the vacuum lines on the driver's side yet? I'm going to look at my Frontier and see what all is under there.

You are right... I had a clear bra treatment get too hot since I drive with the fogs on during the day... not enough distance between bulb and plastic. I have since removed the clear bras from the fogs... I still have it over the normal lights, hood, lower doors on all 4s.

This is from Total Chaos Fabrication. This is a Titan, but they will be releasing the same for the Frontier which correct me if I’m wrong will work on an X. This sounds like it would take care of the contact when using the spacers.

I don't know with the upper spring and shock mount still there I dont thank you'll gain much travel. I'm afraid they'll have to modify the upper spring shock mount to make it work because the stock one is huge.

i agree with grunz on this one. looks no better for clearing the bucket. im not sure what advantage the TC arms would offer, if any, based on what i see in that pict.

The picture doesn’t make it look like it would work, but the web site states it will take care of any contact problem when using spacers for lift in the front. Mine is so bad with the Daystar, I’m praying this will work.

What size tires are you running? You mentioned 285 and from the looks it the stock 16" wheel. So I guess my real question is what is the Aspect Ratio

ie LT285/70R16 or LT285/75R16?

How noticable is the banging? Does it occur only under hard compression or is it heard during day to day driving?

I have the Daystar lift and I had to intentionally go over some speed bumps fast to get the UCA to hit the spring bucket.

While driving around town during my normal travels I never hear any noise. Also mine makes more of a low clunk not load banging.

I have only heard it once while on road... it was after going through the dip into my driveway while moving faster than normal.

While offroading the bang is only when you have a quick drop off. If you are moving quickly and come to a ledge/hole/or rolling over rocks where the front end is "bouncing" up and the front end fully extends.

There are 2 ways to fix this. The first is as mentioned by the TC Upper Control Arm which redefines the location of the arm. The second is to grind the areas that are in contact with the bucket. This can be done because that portion of the UCA is excess steel as it is only a lip.

My personal opinion is that there is no structural damage being caused (just cosmetic paint), its mostly a sound discomfort. My overall goal with my X (which is 1 year old in my possesion today) is to put the 5" lift on. If I were going to be done with the spacer lift right now I would not have a problem removing the steel that is in contact with the lower bucket.

Great photo of the contact area. Has anyone tried fastdrm's grinding solution to eliminate the contact?

Has anyone talked to Calmini about a SAS for the next gen. X's? I asume it will be some time before one is released, if it all. Does Calmini have plans for production of an SAS kit for the next gen X's as they did for the previous gen?

There is at least one 2nd Gen X out there that is getting SAS'd sooner rather than later, don't know about the possibilities of a kit, but it will be done

Someone is working on designing and installing a SAS for their 05 as we speak. Probably a few weeks away before they begin install.

Chef & Koko...any chance this person would be willing to start a thread on this one? Either here or in the NextGeneration area? I for one would be very interested to have updates on this project, and to hear how it's coming along, and I would guess I'm not alone. I'm sure that some of the people would have suggestions or ideas to help solve any problems that come up.

No worries, All Phase Off-Road is doing all the custom work. As for the coin, I can't say as I don't know, but parts cost is comparable to the SLR 5" lift
