A thanks to SLR and Spencer Jr. - 03/09/02 05:27 PM

Just wanted to pop a line out to the board saying thanks to SLR and Spencer, Jr. I got my SLR steering setup delivered to me last Friday. Everything was packaged well and ready to go.

We put the system on on Saturday and the install went really well and problem-free. The only trouble we had was nicking the tie-rod end threads on removal of the old centerlink. Eventually we got it all taken care of, and it was in place.

So far, with no off-roading to go by, the system feels tight and precise. The sharpness of the steering is a very welcome change coming from the slop I called steering before. And bumpsteer is not a problem to me, no more so than stock. I can't wait to try it on the trail. You can tell this system is built like a brick outhouse though. And hell....Spence Jr., even called me up today to check on my satisfaction, and to let me know that the bronze bushing replacements for the idler arm are on their way.

So, I just wanted to say thanks again. I feel that, after all is said and done, I made the right choice with regards to which system to go with. Not to say that the Calmini system will be inferior, for I feel it will not. It will be as equally crafted with pride by its makers, I am sure.

Even for the board related bickering about suppliers, that is one thing that both these companies do....create products of a much superior quality. I know I will have more components from each company as time goes on.

Thanks again SLR for a top-notch product and very pleasing customer service.

From one 2K Aztec Red X to another...

...KICK ASS!!! Keep us posted on how it's working. Hopefully I'll be able to review the Calmini system before winter, though 4 wheeling season will most likely be over by the time I get it installed.

I will definately keep the board posted as to how the system does. And I can't wait for some folks to get the Calmini steering on their X's and let us all know how it performs. Let's just be thankful that some companies are giving us some strong alternatives for our rides and adventures.

Keep up the good work anyone who is trying to help us out.

Brad...
Good to see you got it installed. I'm still waiting on the new idler arm shaft to come in.

Haven't had time anyway with the recent job change and all.

Kennedy....

Ah that's right...How's civi life? Different, I'm sure.

That shaft does look pretty impressive. I think you need to head down with Brent and Allen on October 26 & 27 and tackle some of Uwharrie with us. Also....we are planning another OBX trip this Fall. Keep it in mind. Great to hear from you!

You guys may see my post in the Parts & Accessories forum, but I just received my steering system from SLR and it has the bronze bushings--they look pretty sweet.

I'm putting it in this weekend, here's hoping my install is as easy as yours.

Sweet...
It looks like Spence finally got those sinterated bushings in. My IA sghaft and bushing shipped last week I'm told.

Transition to civilian life is tough... I keep wanting to choke my incompetent "co-workers".

I should be setttled nicely into my job by end of Oct... I'm definately in for the Uhwharrie trip.

Gotham, haven't heard from you in a while. Hope things are well.

Can this topic get any further off course?
