Who is up for mohawks in Moab? I haven't had a haircut since October and am bringing my clippers.

I would have to have hair to have a mohawk. Right now I'm lucky to have sideburns. If I got a mohawk it would look like a patch of pubic hair on the back of my head.

Well I blew a hole on a rock at Rausch Creek this weekend and had to throw on a stock spare. I won't be able to get a new tire for awhile since they are baja claws and I leave this Fri for Moab....no comments on the tires, I know now that they really suck ass.

Anyways,if I throw back my strret tires which are just Bridgestone Dueler HT's...would they be fit for a couple of days in Moab??? They have almost new tread on them.

Yay!! After spending from 10am to 8:30pm today, I finished all of my mods for Moab.
Now I just have to pack the truck.

Lucky. I was hoping to have everything finished up on the truck this weekend. I did get the idler arm brace installed and the front tow hooks installed. I was hoping to have the sliders done as well but they never showed up. Going to have to make a phone call in the morning and see what happened. Still cant wait till Friday.

Yup I'm going to be wrenching to the last minute on the Pathy, should be finished Friday night for a Saturday departure. The wrench-a-thon has kind of become a tradition I tend to go over everything and adjust/add things that I think will help in MOAB.

Going to conquer the entire Golden Spike this year without breaking/bending any steering components or anything else. Hopefully the super u-joints and the rest of the stuff I'm doing will assist but I still bringing spares as always and all my tools. MOAB can be tough on trucks so bring it

I'm wrenching up to the end too. I've got to replace all tie rod ends and get another alignment. I'm glad I've got some extra sick days.

BTW, No mohawk, I was waiting for KU to lose in the NCAA tourney. That's happened, so unless there is a large outcry for me to be a freak I'm getting trimmed before I go. Afros and desert camping don't mix.

well I should be set with tires for Moab after I blew out a Baja Claw in Rausch Creek over the weekend. I just threw the cash down and grabbed five TrXus from OK4WD.com located in north NJ. Glad they had tons of different tires to choose from in stock.

Installed the slider's today survived cabellas with out blowing to much money picked up a hi lift up at a local farm shop and picked up a blues traveler ticket for Thursday night. Weekend cant come fast enough now.

I meant to ask for those camping, do I bring firewood, do I not bring it, do I bring all the typical camping shit that one brings when at a place like canyonlands camp grounds. I have not a clue, never been, to Moab that is.

Don't worry, I never had the $$$ to mod my vehicle so I had a near stock Xterra in Moab for a long time. Here's some pics from GONE 1 .
If you have enough 4x4 experience you can do fine on the harder trails. Mods just make it easier.

And as for packing, Moab isn't a big town but it does have most anything you'll need if you forget.

No one's gonna' get upset if you bring your own firewood to add to the party, and if no one wants you at their party it'll make your long, lonely night go by quicker as the fire pops and crackles next to your tent..Keeps the coyotes away too.

Except for the fact that Canyonlands Campground is in downtown Moab across from McDonalds and there probably aren't any coyotes within 5 miles

Think of Canyonlands Campground as a KOA with everything but the pool, located on Main Street. It's not really camping except for the tent part. If you need firewood, you can always walk a block North to City Market and buy it there

It is a nice campground though, you will be surrounded by $50k rock crawling rigs and $200k RVs. Sadly, your Xterra will look very tiny

Those coming from the East, don't bother washing your trucks, rain and snow Friday and Saturday in Colorado, which we need as this was the second driest March (our snowiest month) in recorded history.

Looks like a nice high pressure system will follow it and sit on Moab for the week.

If I had any clue as to where to camp than I would be there with all the critters, maybe next year when I know more about the place. Hell I would nothen more than to camp out in the "sticks".

Ergo, my comment about bringin' your own firewoood . Still not sure if your stayin' at Canyonlands, but if you're down with dirt, there's plenty (should be anyways) of room out there. You can always find us sunday afternoon/eve in town. I suppose that goes for anyone who's primitive camping as well. Just don't feed my dog
