Airborne worries? - 17/04/01 01:11 AM
I was playing in the dunes last night with some friends and I ended up with all four tires off the ground a few times. Is there anything, mechanically, that I should be worried about? I'll be getting new shocks in a month or so, but anything other than that?

Over time, it will add up to increased wear. It just depends on how often you do it.
Sand is soft, but it's still a 4000 lb. truck.

Try to keep low-flying birds out of the propellors.

It wasn't the fall that killed him,
it was that abrupt stop at the end.

Watch the airbags! Toyota made the mistake of having airbags in the Rav when they lauched them here years ago and every car equipped with one popped them when low level flying. This was at the media release. The Toyota motorsport guy, a mate of mine, told me some journos where getting 6' under the Ravs on the dunes. The total damage was out of 15 cars, 6 with airbags, 5 burst tires, 10 blown airbags, 1 lunched engine, 4 blown trannies and 2 totaled cars.
