Ya man, cheaper to trade in and get the 4x4. Unless of course you can find a wrecked 4x4 05 and are a skilled mechanic with a full garage (yes including a lift) and a weekend or two to devote to the project. I think there was a 99 fronty on the nissan board who did it. Cost him over 8 grand and was out a truck for about a month, and thats doing most of the work himself. Im looking for the link now so ill edit when i find it. Transfer case / front diff / parts would set you back quite a bit since its an 05. But hell if you got time / money to burn, you could just SAS it and be the first on your block to have a sas 05 :-)

I think he means Solid axle suspension for the front instead of IFS

yea, the solid axle, and get them to machine you a custom Atlas II.... that would be cool wink Perhaps go with a D44 front with another of those nifty electric lockers, and, and, and, wink .....

Sounds expensive...

Things you'd need to find:

Complete front axle and hub/rotor assembly and front DS - easy to find with all the solid axle swaps going on

4x4 transmission, Tcase, and driveshaft - not so easy to find and will be pricey in a wrecking yard

It's a lot of work.

Much easier to dump what you have and buy a 4x4 to begin with....then, on your next purchase, think a little more about what you want before you lay down thousands of dollars!

If you have a teenage daughter, let her drive the 4x2 for a while. My daughter totalled my 4x2 and I used the insurance money plus a couple hundred bucks to buy my 4x4. laugh

Would have been if he didn't have a brand-new '05 X.

trade it back in on a 4x4. either way you will be paying more money weather you SAS or just take a loss on the trade in. Trade in will give you a factory warranty locker and front diff.
