Locking hubs - 02/10/02 09:10 PM

Hi, newbie owner here who has a 2002 silver ice XE 4x4. Anyway my question is how do I know if I have manual or automatic hubs? I have seen some older xterra's that have automatic written on the hubs. Thnaks for the help, and please pardon my ignorance.

If you have a 4x4 then it would come with factory automatic locking hubs as that was the only option.

Some of us have installed Warn manual locking hubs as they are more durable for wheelin'.

The aftermarket hubs look like this.

The auto hubs will have a flat top surface (may or may not have the white "automatic" lettering on it), while the manual hubs (available on 2002 models with the Enthusiast Package) have indentions for your fingers to grab to twist the dial along with "locked" and "unlocked" around the outside edge of the dial.

Nice save Brent. I didn't catch the 2002 enthusiast package option.
