suspesion blues - 05/12/03 04:03 AM

i have many questions about suspesions, im kinda new at this my, xterra is stock 4wd and im pretty happy with the way it handles, but i think im starting to out grow it, i feel i need 2 beef up my suspesion but i dont know where to start, i dont think a lift is what i want but something that wont bottom out if i get a little air.

Yeah, every day when I get air in mine, I wonder what that slamming noise is when landing...

Hmmm... It shouldn't do that, right? confused

what do you mean get a little air? like dune jumping in the sand? or curb hopping on the street?
i would imagine that if there were a suspension kit so stiff that it didn't bottom out w/ a 4,000lb suv landing on top of it, it would be practically unbearable on the streets.

adjust your tortion bar in the front, gat AAL's in the back, and new shocks all around... new tires too.. all that will firm up your ride.

Depends what you mean by a LITTLE air. A moderate one or 2 feet air is easy, if your stock suspension can't handle that already, get the stronger torsion bars (27.48mm) by Calmini up front and an AAL in the back.

If you're doing some big (read: stupid) air, then you'll need some major renovations, the X is not designed for that. Get a monster truck Hi-Lux.

2 feet???
unless you're landing on sand or deep snow, i wouldn't try even that.
i'd prefer to keep my tires on the ground as much as possible thank you smile .
to the post starter, maybe you could tell us EXACTLY what you want to do w/ your xterra. then we can help you a little better.
