02-03 change in hp - 15/07/03 12:13 AM
Does anyone know what part(s) add the ten ponies difference between the 02-03 v-6?
Thanks,

I’m thinking that since the SC model did not change, that this is almost 100% marketing department.
I bet if you got the 2 on a dyno you would not see the 10hp.

I hope that is not the case but your probably right.
I have tried asking the service and parts department and they haven't got a clue.

Many times manufacturers will deliberatly "detune" an engine with software, just so they can later notch it back up a little at a time for marketing reasons. Other times just having more time to work on an idea will allow them to sneak in an extra horse here and there w/o any major( or even physical ie; software) changes. GM did this quite noticeably with the northstar engine, partially to avoid the unspoken rule that nobody gets more horsepower than the Corvette.

Just Nissan's marketing junk.
How would they explain the 5hp gain on the Altima to 245hp? Guess they poked a few holes on the air filter so it could beat the new Accord by 5hp and retain the champion?
Hate to admit but Altima is still my favourite family sedan, in the 3.5 and manual trim, that is.

Alot of times it's in the exhaust systems when it's small gains like that...
